This is trust. :) While I watched a movie last night, Jack fell asleep on his back, showing off his cowhide tummy. :) When we first adopted Jack in 2015, he was nine years old, had been abandoned, had very intense fear aggression and would never let us pet his stomach ever. In fact we couldn't even touch his tail or his paws without putting a muzzle on him. It took a few years for him to really know he could trust us. He still growls and shows his teeth a lot, but we know it's all for show now and he is never aggressive with us anymore. He's a bundle of love, affection and joy! :)
Obviously, Jack's life started in 2015! Perfect example of what love can do.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad Jack trusts you guys. That's important. I'm amazed at people who take in dogs with these sorts of issues as I know it takes a lot of patience and work with these sorts of animals. Our good friends adopted an adult male Mastiff who's quite big with a bark that sends shivers up your spine. This animal was abused and quite reclusive to strangers but if you didn't know that you'd turn tail to run away the first time you were greeted by his bark and size. Holy moly, he's like a small horse! When we visit, he generally keeps to himself but occasionally he'll stiff of my hand and let me pet him. I always feel bad for him. I don't understand how people can mistreat anything living. Have a furrtastic week!

ReplyDeleteThat really is trust! How sweet. So glad you have him, and he has you. Reminds me of our little Weetie. Someone moved away and left her out here in the woods to take care of herself. We could hear her barking and whining and finally got her to come to us. She has turned out to be a sweetie pie. We love her so much.

ReplyDeleteSo awesome, Rain! Jack has the same belly as our little Jack Russell. Jack is very trusting of you both, because like our little rescue Russell, he finally knows love in his heart. Our little guy doesn't hear anymore, but he always is looking for us, and knows his hand signals very well. Isn't it wonderful when our hearts connect with theirs?
