πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: The First Thing You See Today & Garlic Scape Powder!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! (Posted on Wednesdays!) 😊😊

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is "The First Thing You See Today". Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it!

Tweety Bird is very lucky! The first thing he sees each morning when he opens up his eyes is Granny bringing him breakfast in bed!! πŸ’˜  This will be my face for Nicole's Friday Face Off! I'm also joining Gillena for her Art For Fun Friday post!

I hope you're all getting my comments! I noticed that my comments seem to disappear when the comment form is on the same page as the post. The message above appears, but the comment doesn't always get to you! Just please know that I do visit if comments disappear! And if anyone from TADD who participated doesn't see my comment within 5 days of the post, please let me know!

David posted a beautiful photo on his blog last week of a Red-spotted Admiral butterfly. His wife Miriam took the photo and I asked him if I could draw it. Well, it started out looking pretty realistic, then as I usually do, I veered away from the reference photo! I still like how it turned out! I used Prismacolor pencils to draw this; and odorless solvent to blend!

The first thing I see each morning are the sweet faces of Jack, Baby Oscar and Raven!

When I remember to leave my curtains open a little, I also see a beautiful sunrise over the woods and mountains! I painted this with acrylic paints.

πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹, I made a delicious Pull Apart Bread, using my No Knead Bread and blended Homemade Pizza Sauce for dipping! It's made with garlic butter, Mozzarella and Parm...all melted in the oven. A nice comfort food treat!

Breakfast Chalupa!
Aimeslee told me it's not a burrito if you don't roll it up, it's a chalupa! Thanks Aimeslee! 😊

Another quick meal is roasted potatoes on tortillas with Homemade Salsa.

In the garden, I picked about 4 cups of blueberries! I'm lucky that I have wild blueberries all over my acreage. Too many to pick, but this is a good start! I think these will turn into blueberry simple syrup!

I also picked my garlic scapes! I didn't plant as many garlic bulbs this year, only 16. When the scapes start to curl, they're ready to harvest! If you don't harvest them, the plant puts a lot of energy into turning those bulbs into flowers and your garlic won't be as large had you snipped the scapes off!

I dehydrated them and ran them through the blender to make garlic scape powder! I'll be uploading that video in the next few weeks! 16 garlic scapes made about 7 1/2 teaspoons of garlic scape powder!

On the video front:

For Rain Frances Art, I recorded the Sunrise Video! I used a Bob Ross technique in this painting!

πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: A Poem and a Potato and GruyΓ¨re Tart!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! (Posted on Wednesdays!) 😊😊

TECHIE NOTE: Blogger changed the HTML gadget making it difficult to EASILY put my button on your sidebar. I'm about to make a tutorial on how to do that, so next week I'll have that ready for you!

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is "A Poem". Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it! Since Edgar Allen Poe is my absolute favourite poet, I chose The Raven as the poem I would illustrate today! Bugs Bunny is flipping out a little as he hears a rapping on his chamber door!

I painted this raven with watercolours. I love adding splatter to my paintings!

My Raven! πŸ’œ  Abandoned nevermore my sweet doggie! πŸ’œπŸ’œ ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️

This is a beautifully sung version of The Raven. The band is called Omnia. There is a folky Celtic sound to this song, I just love it. The singing portion of the video starts at 2:15, so that's where I cued it up for you! I'm joining Cathy this week for her Monday's Music Moves Me post!

This is a painting I did in 2018. I shared this on my blog and in that post, I shared this poem. If you'd like to hear me read it, please click HERE.

The Apple Orchard
(A Rain Frances Nightmare)

In the orchard, dark as night,
I wander blind, despite my fright.
The wind is still but whispers stir,
A monster lurks, of that I’m sure.

I scan the rows of apple trees,
One by one, then twos and threes,
My footsteps snap the frozen grass,
I’ve reached the edge, the dark impasse.

Shivering from cold and fright,
My breath is taken by the night,
A lonely apple hangs up high,
A creak, a hush, a laboured sigh.

I peer into the hollow blue,
“My dear it’s time to bid adieu”.
Eyes ablaze, the demon grins,
Its prickly skin as sharp as pins.

Its evil voice revives my fear,
Its nasty smile grins ear to ear,
Its fiery eyes seem to ignite,
I cower at its ghastly sight.

“In this orchard you will stay,
And join the rest who came this way.”
It points to rows of lifeless trees,
Imploring branches, silent pleas.

I run, I run, I cannot flee,
The demon catches up to me,
A crash, a screech, its cry of glee.
The last I see, the apple tree.

Here's my face for Nicole's Friday Face Off! I was playing around with online software, this is from the website PhotoMania. I'm also joining Gillena for her Art For Fun Friday post!

πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹, I made a delicious Potato and GruyΓ¨re Tart! I've had a wedge of GruyΓ¨re cheese in my freezer for months, so it was time to use it up! I'll share my recipe for Homemade Pie Crust as well, it's easy to make and so delicious!

Today's beverage is a wine suggestion, Apothic RosΓ©. I'm not a fan of their reds and whites, but they do make a nice rosΓ© to enjoy in the hot weather! It's a bit of a dry wine, slightly sweet with a watermelon finish! The label suggests you might also taste strawberry, but my taste buds didn't detect it. This is great with some soft cheese and fruit! Make sure it's icy cold!

I went walking along the river this week, it's so beautiful there.

I love the rock formation, it looks like little dens and caves. The water is signature Maritime red-brown! Louise, I thought you'd enjoy seeing these!

Jack's hound dog nose is always working. During our walk this morning, he found a nice patch of Wild Blueberries To Snack On! Raven doesn't like them so Jack went to town!

On the video front:

For Rain Frances Art, I recorded the Real-Time Painting of my Raven.

For Rain Frances Art For Kids, I have How To Draw An Elephant! So much fun!

That's all for now folks! Please check out the link widget below for more artistic and delicious creations! See you soon!!! πŸ’— πŸ’—

πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Scratch Art and a Pina Colada!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date (posted on Wednesdays)!! 😊😊 If you'd like to update the old TAD button to this new TADD button for Blogger, click here for the HTML code! If you put this button into your sidebar, don't forget to click "shrink to fit"!! Or you can just right click and save the photo! Thanks my friends! ♥

🎨 For our πŸŽ¨ART DATE🎨, the prompt is Scratch Art! Following the prompt is optional! Please feel free to share any of your art, we would love to see it! ☺ Bugs Bunny is looking very serious this week! I used black art paper with white charcoal pencils to create this scratch art. If I'm honest with myself, I had trouble with this prompt! I hope you didn't!

I had no idea what I was doing when I started this scratch drawing, but I guess it kind of looks like an owl! I'm joining in with Nicole's Friday Face-Off and Gillena's Art For Fun Friday! Why not share more of your creativity there?

πŸ’“ I'm VERY behind on blog visits, but I will catch up this week! πŸ’“

On the video front:

And for Rain's Kitchen and Garden, I'm sharing a few videos! This one is How To Make 2-Ingredient Yogurt at home. It's so easy! You just need milk and yogurt and you're set for months!

Here's a quick video I did (half asleep I admit), showing you how Baby Oscar the cat wakes me up every morning!

I also have a video I'm sharing, showing you how I set up Rain Barrels To Harvest Rain! This is so frugal and the barrels keep my garden watered all summer!

πŸ˜‹ For our πŸ˜‹DINNER DATEπŸ˜‹, I made French Quarter Potatoes! These are so delicious!

I also made a Cauliflower Casserole. I had one frozen cauliflower left from when I bought a bunch of them last fall. I've made this casserole before and it's so good. Feeds an army!

And to celebrate my first dinner date post, I made a delicious Pina Colada!!

Do you like Pina Coladas????  😊

I keep forgetting to update you on Raven!!! She got her new brace fitted and she's walking amazingly! She has to wear the brace from the time she wakes up until just before bed every day...likely for the rest of her life. But you know what? She can WALK and she LOVES it! ♥ I filmed the dogs walking on the blueberry field trail the other morning...they are just so cute together! Raven is full of curiosity and she just adores Jack! ♥

Thursday Art Date: Playing Hooky! & πŸŽ‡ A Blog Announcement! πŸŽ‡

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art Date (posted on Wednesdays)!! 😊😊 Today our theme is Playing Hooky! Following the prompt is optional! Please feel free to share any of your art, we would love to see it!

Bugs and Daffy are playing hooky from work today! These big time movie stars can pretty much get away with anything can't they?

πŸŽ† PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR A QUICK BLOG ANNOUNCEMENT! πŸŽ†

I tried my hand at anime faces for Nicole's Friday Face-Off this week! This wasn't easy for me! Anime (aa-nim-ay) is Japanese animation, very expressive art that uses imagery to tell a story. You'll recognize this style of art usually by the big expressive eyes! I'm also joining in with Gillena's Art For Fun Friday! Why not share more of your creativity there?

I did a very easy acrylic silhouette painting inspired by Little Red Riding Hood. Some of you may recognize this style, I've done it quite often, it's based on Bob Ross' style of painting!

On the video front:

For Rain Frances Art, I'm sharing the real-time lesson for Little Red Riding Hood.

For Rain Frances Art For Kids, here is How To Draw Jam On Toast! Btw, my How To Draw Ice Cream video has gotten nearly 5000 views as I type this! Pretty neat!

And for Rain's Kitchen and Garden, I'm sharing a few videos! The first is How To Make Strawberry Simple Syrup.

And How To Prune, Harvest and Transplant Grocery Store Basil Plants.

For Kathy's last Food Wednesday post, I've got my Pancakes with that delicious Strawberry Simple Syrup.

I had LOTS of strawberries to eat this week. I found 3 pounds for $10 at the local market. Since the squirrels pretty much snacked on all of mine, I decided to buy some! This is Homemade Goat Cheese on my Homemade Baguettes with strawberries and a little bit of that strawberry simple syrup!

And some Thin Crust Pizza!

That's all for now folks! Please check out the link widget below for more artistic creations! See you soon!!! πŸ’— πŸ’—
