πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Primary Colours!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Primary Colours! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it!  Tweety Bird is ready for a 3D movie marathon!

Note: I wanted to let everyone know that I will be answering all comments from now on! I started with the last post, so check back if you are interested!

The three primary colours are yellow, red and blue. By mixing any of these three colours, you can get all of the other colours on the colour wheel. By adding white and black, you can get different shades of the colours too!

⬆️⬆️ I also painted this robin's nest with watercolours.

⬆️⬆️
I pulled out the charcoals yesterday to draw Donald Sutherland, it's been a while since I've done a portrait and I kind of miss doing them!

"Seaside" Spinach!!!

"Buttercrunch" Lettuce!

⬆️⬆️ Things are starting to grow under the grow lights in the basement! I have some spinach and lettuces popping up!

⬆️⬆️ πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹,  I made a loaf of Olive Bread! This was so good, I dipped it in olive oil and Balsamic vinegar. A friend suggested it would be really good with brushetta too, I'll try that next time!

⬆️⬆️ I have another wine recommendation! Carnivor Zinfandel from California. At the New Brunswick Liquor stores, there are several vintages and I chose the oldest they had from 2020. This was SO smooth and full bodied. Rarely do I taste what the label suggest, but my palate was spot on with this one. "Bold notes of dark cherry and blackberry jam complement hints of mocha and toasted oak" - normally I cringe at any chocolate flavour in red wine, but this was so subtle that it worked! It's a bit pricey at $23 (where I live), so it's a once in a while treat!

πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Complimentary Colours!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

BIG POST TODAY! I HAVE LOTS TO SHARE WITH YOU!!!

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Complimentary Colours! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it! Tweety Bird is ready for bedtime in his purple pj's. I chose yellow and purple for my complimentary colours today!

Life Update: I would like to just get this out in the open and never talk about it again! After 10 years, I have ended my relationship. He will be moving out by the end of May. There has been a lot of conflict and it became intolerable for me. I decided it was time for me to be the brave one and ask him to move out. It's been tough, but trust me friends...I'M OKAY. It's really for the best. I have no regrets because I know I tried everything I could to nurture and keep the relationship healthy. Please don't worry about me, I'm excited about this new chapter of my life that is about to begin!! That was hard for me to say publicly, but I know a lot of you have followed my blog for many years and I wanted to be transparent about it so I can feel free to use "I" instead of "We" from now on!! πŸ’›πŸ’œ

⬆️⬆️ I painted a flower field with acrylic paints too. This was much easier than it looks, I used the Bob Ross method for painting as well as a few little tricks for the flowers!

Jack and Baby Oscar in Jack's New Bed

⬆️⬆️ Well Friends, here is the news about Jack. He has an inoperable tumour in his nasal cavity. This explains the nose bleeds, the sniffles and his sudden onset of trying to clear his throat; it explains the sudden droopy eye as well. The vet said that his wheeziness has doubled since she saw him in February which means the tumour is growing. She gave me a list of things to watch for that will let me know "when it's time". For now though, his breath rate is normal though he has some congestion. He's on codeine nightly for two reasons: so he can sleep (me too), and to suppress the cough reflex. He needs to sleep in his crate now so that he's safe while I'm sleeping. Baby Oscar is keeping him company!

Jack and Raven - Bed Buddies!

⬆️⬆️ I'd like to share this with my pet friends out there. While your dog is sleeping, set your timer for a minute. Count his/her breath. Under 30 breaths in a minute is normal breathing for dogs. Anything over 30 is a concern that there could be a breathing issue. Jack is at 21 breaths per minute right now. I check him 2-3 times a day. I'm holding on to the hope that the tumour will just stop growing. One can hope right?

⬆️⬆️ πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹, I've been chowing down on comfort food. Homemade pizza with my Pizzaghetti Pizza Dough; an egg white scramble with my Pizza Sauce, fresh spinach and some Cheddar; and of course, my usual spaghetti!

⬆️⬆️ I DID IT! I built my "basement garden"! I purchased 12 shop lights on Amazon and built 12 stands from 2x4's. Now I can start my seeds indoors and hopefully grow lettuces, herbs and tomatoes (fingers crossed) year round! It only cost me about $200 CAD for the entire thing. I filmed the whole thing. If you'd like to watch, I have 3 versions to share:

⬆️⬆️ Version 1: The full 28 minute video where I talk about gardening challenges and show you the build itself; and I go into detail about the supplies needed for the build. In the video notes, I have my plans that you can download as well as a written description on how to build this system: Frugal Grow Light System - Basement Grow Light Garden - 12 Stands - $200 CAD - DYI!

⬆️⬆️ Version 2: The 13 minute video where I show you the footage of the build only: Footage Of The Build Only - Frugal Grow Light System - Basement Grow Light Garden - $200 CAD - DYI!

⬆️⬆️ Version 3: The 1 minute sped up short video where I show you the build: DIY Frugal Grow Light System ($200)

⬆️⬆️ For Rain Frances Art For Kids, I have How To Draw A Ladybug ! (Art For Kids!) - Easy Step By Step Beginner Art/Drawing Lesson!

πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Grayscale

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Grayscale! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it!  This is one of the original versions of Porky The Pig from 1936-1939 that I drew with ink and graphite. The cartoon shorts were black and white so he fits in quite well with my prompt this week!

Isn't it interesting how these cartoon characters evolve over the years?

⬆️⬆️ Well, here is my private road, which I dub my half a kilometer driveway. I don't have county services so I have to clear it myself. We've had some big snow storms lately and this is my snow blower handiwork after a storm last week. We are getting a lot of snow this week, but spring snow is melty snow, so I might wait it out instead of doing the snow removal!

⬆️⬆️
Jack's energy is declining...he had a very worrisome nose bleed over the weekend that lasted nearly 24 hours. It's from the cold dry air...but he's always the clown for me. Here's a video of him chewing on his ears and scratching his butt up against the wall lol!

⬆️⬆️ πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹, I'm all Irished out! I made Irish Coffee and Shamrock Sugar Cookies!

On the video front:

⬆️⬆️ For Rain Frances Art, I'm sharing a quick video where I paint Abstract Flowers with acrylic paints.

πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Cool Colours (Blues, Purples, Greens)

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Cool Colours (Blues, Purples, Greens)! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it! Daffy Duck is living a frugal life and crushing his own grapes for his wine! Lucky Duck! 😁

⬆️⬆️ Erika asked about the dog boots last week. These are the ones I buy Erika! They remind me of balloons a little bit. They are the best little boots I've ever had for my dogs because yes, they STAY ON. Jack is used to them but Raven tries to shake them off....futile lol. They are easily washable and I'd say I only have to replace the entire pack once every few years when their nails go through them. I rub them with baby powder because they tend to get all sticky and it's hard to put them on the dog's paws otherwise. I buy them at Pet Smart in Canada and a 12-pack of the large boots cost me $27.

⬆️⬆️ When my Marlene was still alive and had trouble walking, these were great because they kept her from slipping on the wood/tile floors too.

⬆️⬆️ I wanted to show you this gorgeous crystal point that a friend gave me. It's a green Fluorite healing crystal. I just adore it!

⬆️⬆️ πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹, I made a delicious goat cheese pizza! Yum!

⬆️⬆️ For anyone interested, I'm doing a little self-promotion! Every day on my YouTube channel Spiritual Rain, I do a daily card reading. The video above is a sample of what I have to offer!

πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Warm Colours (Reds, Oranges, Yellows)

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Warm Colours (Reds, Oranges and Yellows)! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it!  Ain't that the life for Bugs Bunny? Snoozing on the hammock on a warm afternoon - I can't wait for the warmer weather!

I painted some warm watercolour tulips for the prompt this week!

πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹, I made some Italian breadsticks, they're called Grissini. VERY nice! I'll have the video and recipe up on next week's blog post!

A while back I mentioned that I was experimenting with vegan food. I made some Vegan Cheese - it tastes like a combination of Cheez Whiz and maybe what you'd find as a chip dip in the chip aisle of the grocery store. One of the ingredients in the vegan cheese is a Vegan "Chicken" Seasoning. It tastes just like non-vegan chicken seasoning! I think I figured out why...it's the onion powder. That gives it the Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup flavour! ☺ I still prefer milk-cheeses though!

Here are Raven and Jack on a very cold winter morning! It was so cold they had to wear their little booties! They were sitting and admiring the birds at the feeder! Jack is doing a lot better Friends, thanks so much for last week's comments!
