Thursday Art Date: 🐙 Mermaids and Water Creatures 🐙
Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art Date! 😊😊 Today our theme is Mermaids and Water Creatures! I asked Bugs Bunny if he would pose as Poseidon, the Greek God of the Sea - he was a little reluctant because he had to show a lot of skin in this drawing! I think he spent some time at the gym to prepare!
I pulled out a watercolour painting I did back in 2016 of a Sea Horse. I love the colours in this one!
I also tried my hand at some more 3D art. I'm not too sure how 3D this looks, but it's definitely a shark! I drew this with ink and graphite.
My latest #Shorts video is up on YouTube! ☺
Some fun news! In the next few weeks, I'm launching a new channel - Rain Frances Art For Kids! I've made a few videos and sent them out to a friend who has young kids for feedback. I'm now in the process of setting up the channel and creating art lessons! I'll let you know when it's up and running!
Baby Oscar had to go back to the vet. He was having trouble peeing again. The photo on the left shows a large amount crystals in his urine, poor baby. He's on antibiotics again and we have switched him to a Urinary formula diet. He's slowly getting better. Otherwise the rest of the family is happy and healthy!
I tried a few new dishes this week! Cauliflower Casserole. This was absolutely delicious! It fed us for 3 suppers!
Fried Tomatoes with Dipping Sauce. We had these with the leftover casserole. These are just so delicious, nice and crispy! You can't use soft tomatoes though, I usually use green tomatoes for this, but the tomatoes I had were not ripe at all and worked perfectly!
And of course, I need at least one pizza each week!
I made a Key lime pie too. I crushed up Graham crackers and mixed in some melted butter for the crust. (10 minutes at 350F) And I used a packaged pie filling from Shirriff. It was actually quite yummy! I have tried to make Key lime pie from scratch but Key limes are rare in these here parts!!
This art date is all about creating. You can showcase your paintings, drawings, photography, sculpting, baking, poetry...whatever you like! 🎨
Don't forget to add the URL link to your post (not your blog) to the link gadget below to share your wonderful creations! Please revisit to make sure you don't miss those who join in a little late! All spam and non-related links will be removed! The link gadget expires Friday at midnight (EST).
Bugs makes a GREAT Poseidon. I think he looks a bit risque in that drawing. He actually looks better than Poseidon, I think. Y9ur sea horse is beautiful, and that shark is absolutely stunning.
Oh poor Oscar, That looks scary. I hope the antibiotics work. That new cat collar he is wearing is so cute.
Sorry I have to miss TAD and also Food Wednesday. I need to try that cauliflower casserole. How nice the fried tomatoes were good. I've only fried green ones, so I was glad to see you can fry them if they are still hard. Have a super week, dear. I hope Oscar gets better and you can relax and not stress for at least a few weeks.
Bugs Bunny looks funny in your art. Love the sea horse and shark painting. Good to know that Baby Oscar is getting better. Wow! Your food is making me hungry and drooling. Wish I could have a piece of pizza now.
What beautiful art you make. I hope your cat gets better soon. The cauliflower casserole looks really delicious, just like the pizza and the pie. Greetings Irma
I will be looking out for your new channel Rain. Two of my grandkids are very much into paints, pens and drawing so I know they will take a look at your advice and ideas for them. Meanwhile, you are making me very hungry again and we really ought to try a home made pizza again. Have a great weekend and I hope the weather is now warming up for you.
Love Bugs as Poseidon, his eyes looks like he is a little sad. The seahorse is beautiful, the sharks look scary. I hope Oscar feels better soon. The cauliflower casserole looks yummy, the pizza would be my favorite meal. Take care, enjoy your day!
You have the most amazing blog! Glad Bugs agreed to modeling for you. He did great and looks so good. Your Sea Horse is beautiful! I've got to try the cauliflower casserole. It looks delicious! Oh, and sweet little Oscar. I hope he gets well reaally soon.
Rain, the picture of Bugs made me laugh! And the shark looks great!
We had a cat when I was growing up that had urinary tract issues as well. We ended up putting him on a special diet (they make such a thing) and he went on to live several more years of a happy life.
There is only one kind of pie. And it is Key Lime. By all means let me know when you make the next one and I will be on my way!
OK, I don't know what is wrong with my eyes or if the font is too small for me or what but I am off a week with TAD. Yeah old age sucks. Love your art, congrats on the new channel and the food looks flippen amazing. Have a great day Sis.
Hi Rain, wonderful drawings, your food looks delicious. I'm glad that Oscar is recovering and I bet he'll be happy to get that melon off his neck. The watercolour of the sea horse is a beauty. Take care and have a wonderful week.
Your watercolour Sea Horse is beautiful! I hope Baby Oscar feels better soon. High ash content in cat food can also cause a lot of problems (something for your Vet to look into if he/she hasn't already done so).
Oh, Rain, Baby Oscar is so darned cute in his watermelon and I have a feeling he's pretty miserable with it, too. Poor guy. Lizzie is on some med for crystals (small ones, a preventative to keep them from being worse). I hope everything you're doing solves that problem. I should think you and Oscar have both had enough!
Love your drawing and also your fabulous meals! May I eat at your house? I'll do the dishes, all the cleaning up, you name it! The seahorse is beautiful and I love the texture of your background. Since I have one water bird in my current post (and a bunch of cats and landscapes, may I join in today? Feel free to delete me if you want!
Poseidon looks sad ... maybe because so much of our oceans are dying due to global warming. It makes me sad too ... but I am impressed with what Bugs accomplished at the gym. I go to the gym, but no big muscles yet :( I love your Sea Horse and would love to know how you achieved the color gradations in the water and in the Sea Horse. Maybe you could do a tutorial on using water colors in unique ways :) Your shark is definitely 3D and scary looking for sure. All your art is wonderful ... and your food as always looks delicious. Key Lime has been my all time favorite for years, but I rarely have any because I try not to include sugar in my diet. I am missing a lot of goodies that I love, but at my age, I have to think in terms of my health. Your "Art for Kids" channel is probably good for untrained adults too ... I think I may drop in and see what I can learn. Both of my Grandchildren are already accomplished artists so it is time for Grandma to catch up :) Would love to have your energy, talent and metabolism ... you are blessed for sure. Stay well my friend ...
Rain - love the sea horse - they are fascinating creatures. Poor Oscar; I hope he feels better soon. And just thinking about Key Lime Pie has my mouth watering! Perfect dessert to get us in the mood for summer ... enjoy your weekend!
Thank you for always getting the art dates together, I haven't contributed for ages but do enjoy seeing everyones art. You have such lovely cheesy food! I love cheese! my personal favourite is haloumi grilled served with olives and tomatos. Betty
Is it bad that when I start reading your blog I can't wait to get to the food?? lol....Love the cat ring of shame. I would not even hate wearing that. Your art as always looks great.
haha i loved how bugs is stuck in this position ,nice art :)
water horse and shark with shadow i loved the both as well dear Rain .and video is so amusing with pappy music :)
so much mouth watering food i want to have all lol ,specially the friend tomato sound interesting because we don't put tomato in friend stuff like pakory or others ,but you well mentioned that hard ones are used instead soft ,i will try it .
best wishes for new channel for kids wow ,i am glad many are leaning from you so much and now kids will too :) hugs and blessings!
Bugs sure did a good workout to pose for your art, Rain. I really liked the seahorse too and yes, the 3D art did look that way to me, even if sharks are not a favorite. Sorry to read that Oscar is still having issues and hope the meds will help him feel better soon. The watermelon collar is really cute too! I liked the cauliflower casserole recipe and as soon as fresh cauliflower is a bit less costly, it will be on a meal plan. THis week, I may try the butternut squash pasta recipe, but will substitute cream cheese, which we have in the fridge, for goat cheese, which we don't have available. I got the substitution idea after reading that it could be done with the cauliflower casserole recipe, thanks.
Good luck with the Art for Kids Channel, which sounds like a great plan and getting feedback from your friend's kids was a great idea too.
Haha dear Rain - Bugs as Poseidon is awesome! He has trained himself a great six pack - or is he just wearing a muscle suit? ;-DD The green seahorse is adorable - seahorses are my favorite fish anyway and green is my favorite color. However, sharks are not among my favorites, even though I know that their reputation is worse than the sharks themselves and that humans are the worse predator. (I've been scared since my childhood when a friend told me the lie about freshwater sharks - after that I didn't dare go into my grandma's pond for a while... ;-)) Poor Baby Oscar - I hope he likes the diet?! (When our sweet Maxwell got the urinary diet, he wasn't at all enthusiastic...) But the melon looks good on him ;-) Your food photos make me drool... All the best - and love to your critters, Traude https://rostrose.blogspot.com/2022/04/marz-rückblick-bad-voslau-und-mein.html
Delicious looking dishes Rain, I would love to try any of them-thanks for sharing and linking up with Food Wednesdays I always love your art too- Kathy
Butternut squash and goat cheese pasta sounds amazing Rain. As does the cauliflower casserole. And if you want key limes for pie you should look for key lime juice usually near the lemon juice in stores. Not sure they have over the border, but I've found it when I lived in Maine so maybe. Hope you have some yummy food this week. hugs-Erika
A new YouTube channel for teaching kids is a great idea, Rain. I look forward to hearing more about it. And that Bugs... he has nothing to be embarrassed about. He makes for a mighty buff Poseidon.
Love your art! Oh, poor boy, hope he gets well soon - he does not look that happy...
Hmmm, cauliflower Casserole sounds wonderful!!! I´ll be at it as soon as I find time!
Are those special tomatoes? I´ve never seen green ones here (Germany). I love the movie and would love to try those. Dumb question: red ones are too ripe and hence too sweet?
Wonderful art rain- I love your bugs bunny:):) I don't know how you keep up with everything you do- another channel? I hope it goes well. Poor kitty- I do hope the new meds work for him. And the food- oh my- I think I gained 5 pounds just lingering over it!:) Yum!
David, I think the only way Miriam will approve is if you find her a MERMAN lol! ☺
Iris: The tomatoes I used were from the grocery store, they were red tomatoes, but not very ripe, so they were hard. You can't use soft tomatoes because they will just fall apart during the coating and cooking. You can DEFINITELY use sweet red tomatoes! They taste lovely! But I don't find green ones in the stores, it's the tomatoes I grow, before they start to turn red, I usually pick a bunch for this recipe! ☺
I come from the school of thought that cheese makes everything taste better... when in doubt add cheese... it runs in the family..lol All your dishes look YUMMY! My parents and grandparents made eating fried green tomatoes a special day.. i never liked them so as a kid they always had something else for me.. probably something with cheese...lol! Happy Food Wednesday.. Hugs! deb

❤ Thanks for your comment, I love hearing from everyone! ❤ Why not join me and my fellow artists every Thursday for TADD? That's Thursday Art and Dinner Date! It's a lot of fun! Love, Rain
Wonderful water creature art, and sea horses are fascinating. Delicious food as always. Good luck with the kids art channe!
ReplyDeletePoor Baby Oscar. I am glad he is improving.
ReplyDeleteBugs had definitely been to the gym before posing, and I love your shark.
Poor Oscar! The food looks grea, I'll take the cauliflower casserole and lime pie, please! Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

Hope sweet baby Oscar continues to get better.
All the best Jan
Seeing these sea creatures makes me yearn to visit the ocean again. Do you think I'll find a mermaid? And will Miriam approve?
ReplyDelete...now I'm hungry for a pizza!
ReplyDeleteI love your food! What you said about key limes being scarce over there made me laugh. I would like to try your recipes. So good!
ReplyDeletePraying for Oscar to get better soon.
ReplyDeleteThese foods got me drooling.
