Thursday Art Date: Colourful June - Red!
Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art Date (posted on Wednesdays)!! 😊😊 Today our theme is Red! Following the prompt is optional! Please feel free to share any of your art, we would love to see it! ☺
Daffy has red steam coming out of his ears...he's such a hot head! I bet this had everything to do with Bugs Bunny's antics!
As well as a quick video to show you a Wild Turkey Sighting in the blueberry fields!
I had to travel to Nova Scotia last week. Raven's brace was not fitting properly. The company that made the brace is called K9 Orthotics. The owner is Jeff, who has a prosthetic leg himself. He has devoted his life to helping dogs who need orthotics, braces and prosthetics...he is truly an amazing person. He is remaking the brace at no cost to us and he'll be passing by New Brunswick next week to fit Raven with her new brace so that another trip to Nova Scotia isn't needed!
I decided to make a mini vacation out of my trip and I brought the dogs with me to Burntcoat Head Park - it was very much like the Hopewell Rocks here in New Brunswick!
Raven LOVES the water, she was having so much fun! Jack prefers not to get his feet wet! Raven is limping a little so I have to make sure I limit her walking. I can't wait to get that brace back on her!
Before coming home, I stopped by a Dog Wash and the furries were treated to a "spa day". Pet Valu in Truro, Nova Scotia did the honours for free. All they asked was a donation to the local dog shelter, which of course, wasn't an issue for me!
It's strawberry season! I got some fresh local strawberries and made a nice strawberry shortcake type of dessert. The sponge cake is store bought and I whipped up some cream with a little Amaretto liqueur, delicious!
I missed visiting everyone last week, but I will be slowly catching up! I hope you're all well and healthy and happy my friends!!!♥♥
That's all for now folks! Please check out the link widget below for more artistic creations! See you soon!!! 💗 💗

Hello, I always enjoy your cartoon images, love Daffy with the red stream coming out of his ears. Neat sighting of the Turkey with the babies. Love your sweet Raven and Jack, I am sure they enjoyed the beach and the bath time. Your strawberry cake looks yummy. Take care, have a happy day!
How wonderful that you found someone with such a philanthropic outlook on life to help you with the brace for the dog. And you got a mini vacation in Nova Scotia as part of the deal!
Oh, Daffy, LOL! Love your watercolour cherries too. How nice of Jeff to replace Raven's brace -- clearly, they stand behind their work! Pun intended, LOL! That spa day looks like fun too.
Ahhhhh...wild turkeys sure are fun to see! I was looking back at yellow and see that cute flower with a face. I always forget to put eyelashes and that makes it super cute! Have fun!
I don't have any red or art to share today (next week I should!) but I love stopping in! And three cheers for Jeff (and for you, taking good care of your dogs). I'm glad you made it a fun day out -- the dog wash is something I've never seen!
If I was a Turkey I too would find it very difficult not to eat blueberries.
You discovered that there are still people in the world with humanity and kindness and willing to help an unfortunate animal. Good luck to Raven waiting expectantly in the bath there!
It's been a very busy couple of weeks here sorting out the garden grandchildren and car issues but I hope I'm back on track now. Michelle (11) told me that she had lost your YouTube address so i told her once again and advised her to leave a message. She reminded me that she cannot post her identity on the Internet because she's adopted. What a sad world?
Here early as I have a full day tomorrow;). Wonderful art projects- I especially love the cherries! What a nice way to spend some time while on the road for the brace. I love that there was no charge either for the brace adjustment nor for the spa treatments - really lovely people. I'm sure Raven and Jack both felt much better afterwards:). Strawberry shortcake- yum!!! I have yet to make one this season-it's time. Will be back soon to visit links. Have a great day!
This is a full post. Wonderful art, photos and vidis. So glad Raven go situated and the doc is bringing the brace to you. What a cool place to bath your dogs. Have a really great day.
Really enjoyed your post! good news for the new brace, and a dog spa-how fun is that-they look cute there in the photo. Yum fresh strawberries-hugs Kathy
I think it's great Raven will be getting a new leg brace. Jeff is really a great guy to do that at no cost and to bring the brace down to New Brunswick to you. I hope it helps Raven. And nice turkey and turkey babies. I've seen them in my yard a few years back and I saw some a few weeks back, but they weren't too tiny. Your 3D face is pretty cool looking. I love how you did that. And the other star (besides Raven) is that strawberry shortcake. YUMMY! I need to go picking soon I think. Have a great rest of the week Rain. hugs-Erika
It's great that you've found someone who will make the brace for ravens, someone who knows what it's like to wear a brace. The strawberry cake looks delicious. Greetings Irma
Hi Rain! Beautiful photo of you on your lil vacay. Lovely art and also what a cool story about that dude, he's a hero! I really need that dessert, it looks delectable! I told Erika BioArtGal y'all need to get together. You are both so Wilderness Brave, I'm not sure I know any other braver women. I bet y'all would have fun together! We are sweating our arsses off down here and just being lazy when we can, although Honey does water the plants and yard and run errands. I do art in the a/c, tough life. We made Butter Swim Biscuits the other day, a Southern favorite and a whole stick of butter for 9 biscuits. (We like our lard and bacon grease and butter down here, heehee). I was surprised a stick has only 810 calories, I thought for sure it was thousands, lol. Well, have a good week, until next time. XOX
Raven has truly found a wonderful home with you, Rain. It was good to read that her leg brace is being refitted and at no cost was even better news, plus you and Jack and Raven were able to take a mini-vacation. The strawberry shortcake looked wonderful, as you treats always do, my friend.
Thanks for telling Jeff and his company's story, Rain. There are so many good and kind people in this world that we know nothing about. I'm glad that Raven will soon have her adjusted brace. And what a stroke of luck that Jeff will be passing through NB, saving you another trip. You have your priorities right, my friend. That strawberry cake looks so yummy! Now that I see a bigger image of your 3D drawing, I see how you did it. My goal is to finish your starry night video while here in Vegas and paint it when I get home. Have a great weekend, my friend!
Thanks for sharing all of this. I really love your 3D tutorial. I have played with that idea for quilting but haven't actually gone past the design idea phase. I think that for the first one, at least, I would need to do a full size sketch and then make templates to cut the pieces.
No doubt, Bugs has been messing with Daffy. I know that feeling and from now on I will envision red puffs coming out of my ears :) I love your 3D face ... I am always saying I want to learn to do that and never get around to it. Hopefully this week I will be able to watch your tutorial ... you do break things down well and the steps are always easy to follow. Funny, I have a bag of those cherries in my refrigerator that I munch on periodically (yummm) and they do look just like your painting :) Love your garden update ... do you have to water them or do you get enough rain to quench their thirst? Raven looks like she is doing well without the brace, but good that you have been able to get a remake of her. And make sure he puts something on it or tells you what to put on it to minimize the rubbing. It will rub and she will have to develop callouses of sorts ... just like a guitar player has callouses on their fingers :) Good that at least Raven loves the water ... and if looks could tell, Jack's face says it all in the bath, Ha! Your Strawberry shortcake looks delicious and Amoretto has always been a family favorite, though we don't drink anymore, I am sure it would be delicious in whip cream. Definitely something to think about. Another wonderful post, Rain ... you are a miracle worker :)
I like Daffy with the red coming out his ears, he must be very frustrated at Bugs. :) Jack and Raven had a special vacation with you. They look like they are enjoying the spa day. Thanks for sharing all your news and have a wonderful weekend.
Love those red cherry's Rain, look good enough to eat!! Wonderful news about Raven, there are so incredible people that go above and beyond for our animals their kindness is extremely heart warming. Jack and Raven look like they enjoyed their Spa day, Freya had her quarterly groom last week, she's nice and short for Summer now but her favourite part is the bath hee hee.. Happy Friday Face Off Hugs Tracey xx
I am sorry that Raven is having to deal with all that but I loved seeing her sitting up in that dog wash. I hate when our furs are sick or not feeling well and can't tell us. Misty is fighting a UTI right now and I hate it. She is taking her meds well and I am proud of her. Loving your art. Great job as always. And wow, the desserts always looks amazing.
❤ Thanks for your comment, I love hearing from everyone! ❤ Why not join me and my fellow artists every Thursday for TADD? That's Thursday Art and Dinner Date! It's a lot of fun! Love, Rain

ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful news about Raven's brace, and what a kind man for doing such work! Raven definitely looks happy in the water.
ReplyDeleteDaffy Duck is, in my opinion, one of the greatest underrated cartoon characters.
It's great that you've found someone who will make the brace for ravens, someone who knows what it's like to wear a brace.
