πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Twisted!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Twisted! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it! Bugs is enjoying a carrot martini with a twist of lime!

Comments: I counted 79 comments that I posted on Wednesday morning and I didn't get that message. I know I left a lot less comments on Blogs last week, so who really knows why I got shut down like that!

⬆️⬆️ I also painted a watercolor seahorse with a little twisted tail! I was just playing around with dots!

CALLING ALL BIRDING FRIENDS!!!

⬆️⬆️ I got some nice photos from the trail cam. I've been trying to distinguish Ravens from Crows. I consulted my birding book and I'm a little confused about the tail feather shape. According to my book's drawings, they really look like Ravens...but they don't seem to have the shagginess of a Raven. Are these American Crows?

⬆️⬆️ This is the heartbreaking scene I see any time I leave the house! Oh the guilt lol!!! Jack is still stable!!

πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹,  I made a Cauliflower and Cheese (Jarlsberg) Quiche. I was inspired by Christine's Crustless Quiche last week!

On the video front:

πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Library!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Library! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it! Tweety Bird is enjoying a quiet morning reading at his local library. I wish I had time to read more!!!

⬆️⬆️
This annoys me to no end...I finally have a morning to visit blogs and I'm SHUT DOWN. Grrr.

⬆️⬆️ Tweety isn't the only bird in this post! I got the trailcam set up in the back again! We have Mourning Doves - and friends, is that a Purple Finch?

⬆️⬆️
 Grackles (TB your favourite! 😁😁)

⬆️⬆️
 Tough guy Grackle puffing up!!!

⬆️⬆️ Here's a short video showing the Grackles and Red-Winged Blackbirds. I filmed it from my window because the slightest movement has them all flying off!

⬆️⬆️
Evening Grosbeak with a Red-Winged Blackbird

⬆️⬆️ Raven and Jack. Jack's monthly vet visit was good! He is still wheezing, but his breathing has not gotten worse, so (fingers crossed!) the tumour hasn't grown in the last month! ☺☺☺

πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹,  I made a very simple pasta dish: Pasta Aglio e Olio - Italian for Pasta with garlic and olive oil. A whole bulb of roasted garlic went into this, with some olive oil, parsley and a little salt. With red pepper flakes (I omitted that) and Parmesan cheese (I didn't have any), it's the authentic recipe. I did add a splash of white wine though, it was so good! And you'd think the garlic would overwhelm but it didn't due to the roasting! I'll share the recipe soon, I haven't had a chance to write it all down!

⬆️⬆️
Speaking of garlic, the bulbs I planted in the fall are popping up!!!

⬆️⬆️ For Rain's Kitchen and Garden, I'm sharing How To Make Easy Pie Crust.

⬆️⬆️ I'm also showing How To Blind Bake Your Pie Crust.

πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Brushes!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Brushes! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it!  Bugs is taking care of those pearly whites to make sure he can always chomp away at his carrots!

COMMENT TIP: If you are having issues leaving comments, (like we all do with Blogger), click your control (Ctrl) and F5 keys together (if you have those keys). This will clear the cache of that particular page and maybe....just maybe....you might be able to leave a comment! (I stress maybe!) ☺

⬆️⬆️
I pulled out my watercolor brushes and painted this abstract rainbow!

⬆️⬆️
πŸ¦ 🐦 To my birding friends: I'm pretty sure I saw a Northern Harrier the other day on the blueberry fields. These photos are not that great but the behaviour was interesting. I read on the website Boreal Songbirds Initiative that the Northern Harrier male is: "usually seen gliding unsteadily over marshes with its wings held in a shallow V." I thought at first that it was having trouble flying, but it kept up this behaviour, seemed to be hunting.

What do you guys think?

⬆️⬆️
More critters...there's a handsome little fox hanging around my woods, the trail cam picked him up the other night!

⬆️⬆️
I have tomatoes growing in the basement garden!!! The grow lights are doing their job!

πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹, I made some delicious Challah Bread! I love this bread. Our friend Jeanie posted her hubby Rick's homemade Challah bread on her recent blog post...it looks SOOO good. Well done Rick, makes me realize I need to work on my braiding!!! ☺

πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Folklore!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Folklore! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it!  Granny is reading some Southern Folklore to Tweety Bird so that he can learn about his roots!

⬆️⬆️ Well, this doesn't really have to do with folklore, but I drew Dan Levy with charcoal pencils. He's the son of Canadian actor/comedian/writer/genius Eugene Levy. He has his dad's comic genes that's for sure! And the eyebrows! He wrote and starred in the really funny show Schitt's Creek. ☺

⬆️⬆️ Jack is doing okay, the meds he's taking are helping him to sleep and rest. He hasn't had a nose bleed in two weeks, I'm happy to report! I'm taking this day by day!

πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹, I made some bunny pancakes using my recipe for French Crepes. This was so much fun! Nice for an Easter breakfast!

On the video front:

⬆️⬆️ For Rain Frances Art For Kids, I have How To Draw A Worm!

⬆️⬆️ I'm also sharing a video about Tree Stratification. I bought some tree seeds last summer and I started them last week. I'll hopefully be planting 100 conifers on my land in the fall!

πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Primary Colours!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Primary Colours! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it!  Tweety Bird is ready for a 3D movie marathon!

Note: I wanted to let everyone know that I will be answering all comments from now on! I started with the last post, so check back if you are interested!

The three primary colours are yellow, red and blue. By mixing any of these three colours, you can get all of the other colours on the colour wheel. By adding white and black, you can get different shades of the colours too!

⬆️⬆️ I also painted this robin's nest with watercolours.

⬆️⬆️
I pulled out the charcoals yesterday to draw Donald Sutherland, it's been a while since I've done a portrait and I kind of miss doing them!

"Seaside" Spinach!!!

"Buttercrunch" Lettuce!

⬆️⬆️ Things are starting to grow under the grow lights in the basement! I have some spinach and lettuces popping up!

⬆️⬆️ πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹,  I made a loaf of Olive Bread! This was so good, I dipped it in olive oil and Balsamic vinegar. A friend suggested it would be really good with brushetta too, I'll try that next time!

⬆️⬆️ I have another wine recommendation! Carnivor Zinfandel from California. At the New Brunswick Liquor stores, there are several vintages and I chose the oldest they had from 2020. This was SO smooth and full bodied. Rarely do I taste what the label suggest, but my palate was spot on with this one. "Bold notes of dark cherry and blackberry jam complement hints of mocha and toasted oak" - normally I cringe at any chocolate flavour in red wine, but this was so subtle that it worked! It's a bit pricey at $23 (where I live), so it's a once in a while treat!

πŸŽ¨πŸ˜‹ Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Complimentary Colours!

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art and Dinner Date! 😊😊

BIG POST TODAY! I HAVE LOTS TO SHARE WITH YOU!!!

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Complimentary Colours! Please feel free to share any art you've created, we would love to see it! Tweety Bird is ready for bedtime in his purple pj's. I chose yellow and purple for my complimentary colours today!

Life Update: I would like to just get this out in the open and never talk about it again! After 10 years, I have ended my relationship. He will be moving out by the end of May. There has been a lot of conflict and it became intolerable for me. I decided it was time for me to be the brave one and ask him to move out. It's been tough, but trust me friends...I'M OKAY. It's really for the best. I have no regrets because I know I tried everything I could to nurture and keep the relationship healthy. Please don't worry about me, I'm excited about this new chapter of my life that is about to begin!! That was hard for me to say publicly, but I know a lot of you have followed my blog for many years and I wanted to be transparent about it so I can feel free to use "I" instead of "We" from now on!! πŸ’›πŸ’œ

⬆️⬆️ I painted a flower field with acrylic paints too. This was much easier than it looks, I used the Bob Ross method for painting as well as a few little tricks for the flowers!

Jack and Baby Oscar in Jack's New Bed

⬆️⬆️ Well Friends, here is the news about Jack. He has an inoperable tumour in his nasal cavity. This explains the nose bleeds, the sniffles and his sudden onset of trying to clear his throat; it explains the sudden droopy eye as well. The vet said that his wheeziness has doubled since she saw him in February which means the tumour is growing. She gave me a list of things to watch for that will let me know "when it's time". For now though, his breath rate is normal though he has some congestion. He's on codeine nightly for two reasons: so he can sleep (me too), and to suppress the cough reflex. He needs to sleep in his crate now so that he's safe while I'm sleeping. Baby Oscar is keeping him company!

Jack and Raven - Bed Buddies!

⬆️⬆️ I'd like to share this with my pet friends out there. While your dog is sleeping, set your timer for a minute. Count his/her breath. Under 30 breaths in a minute is normal breathing for dogs. Anything over 30 is a concern that there could be a breathing issue. Jack is at 21 breaths per minute right now. I check him 2-3 times a day. I'm holding on to the hope that the tumour will just stop growing. One can hope right?

⬆️⬆️ πŸ˜‹For our πŸ˜‹ Dinner Date πŸ˜‹, I've been chowing down on comfort food. Homemade pizza with my Pizzaghetti Pizza Dough; an egg white scramble with my Pizza Sauce, fresh spinach and some Cheddar; and of course, my usual spaghetti!

⬆️⬆️ I DID IT! I built my "basement garden"! I purchased 12 shop lights on Amazon and built 12 stands from 2x4's. Now I can start my seeds indoors and hopefully grow lettuces, herbs and tomatoes (fingers crossed) year round! It only cost me about $200 CAD for the entire thing. I filmed the whole thing. If you'd like to watch, I have 3 versions to share:

⬆️⬆️ Version 1: The full 28 minute video where I talk about gardening challenges and show you the build itself; and I go into detail about the supplies needed for the build. In the video notes, I have my plans that you can download as well as a written description on how to build this system: Frugal Grow Light System - Basement Grow Light Garden - 12 Stands - $200 CAD - DYI!

⬆️⬆️ Version 2: The 13 minute video where I show you the footage of the build only: Footage Of The Build Only - Frugal Grow Light System - Basement Grow Light Garden - $200 CAD - DYI!

⬆️⬆️ Version 3: The 1 minute sped up short video where I show you the build: DIY Frugal Grow Light System ($200)

⬆️⬆️ For Rain Frances Art For Kids, I have How To Draw A Ladybug ! (Art For Kids!) - Easy Step By Step Beginner Art/Drawing Lesson!

That's all for now folks! Please check out the link widget below for more 🎨 artistic πŸŽ¨ and πŸ˜‹ delicious πŸ˜‹ creations! See you soon!!! πŸ’—
