Hello Friends!
How is your weekend treating you? We got dumped with snow overnight and there is more on the way! I love snowy mornings, the blue hues make the scene so beautiful! I'm not looking forward to the shoveling out though!
We're still trying to eat what's left from the freezer before I refill it! Last summer I froze lots of herbs and I had an overload of cilantro, so I made my Homemade Salsa and used it for these breakfast fajitas. It's just tortillas with salsa, eggs, cheese and cilantro. Some fried potatoes on the side. I love breakfast for dinner!
This I haven't made in ages, Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. It's very easy to make and uses so few ingredients, and boy is it filling!
We had enough for two meals!
I know my American friends are preparing for Thanksgiving this week; but I have Christmas on my mind. The Christmas cookie baking has begun with some Shortbread Bites.
Jack is out cold here. He had a rough week. On Monday we discovered his mouth was bleeding - after trying our best to locate the problem, we thought we saw a little cut on his back gum. He was definitely sore. Jack is fear aggressive and it was really an act of courage to stick my fingers into his mouth, but he let me - to an extent! I treated him at home with some Oratene anti-bacterial gel and I am so happy to say he's okay now! I was dreading the vet cost if the bleeding didn't stop!
Here he is in the car, howling when Alex ran quickly into the store! Or is he baying? In any case, it's really cool! So happy my Jack is back to himself again! I call him a hound dog, which he is - but we figured out he's a mix between a beagle and a pointer.
Charlie loves to wear Alex's hats...she actually keeps them on!
Baby Oscar, fixed on a Blue Jay in the feeder. Look at the length of those whiskers!
He caught me with the camera! :)
HAHAHA! What a hoot hearing Jack howling. That is adorable.
ReplyDeleteAll the images are adorable! I love your world, Rain!
Your furry family is wonderful, and soooo funny. Loved to hear your little howler! And the cutie with the hat, so precious. Sorry if you need to shovel snow, it looks great but soooo much work. And your food looks wonderful, I wish I could sample a piece of each, I'll just have to do it mentally! Glad Jack is better, give your furries each a hug from me. Have a great wee, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteMmmmm, sprinkles in your shortbread bites!
ReplyDeleteThe pizza looks yummy. I turned up the volume to hear Jack and my dogs were looking all over for him. They aren't the brightest but they are all mine. Love the hat on Charlie. She is a character.
ReplyDeleteThe blue jay picture is amazing.
ReplyDeleteWe are preparing for both Thanksgiving and Christmas this week. Due to the fact we live nowhere by family, this year we decided to decorate for Christmas on Thanksgiving to make sure we got it done (instead of letting it linger until well into December as we often do).
I've told you before, I know, but I adore Jack, even if his how gave me shivers and made me think of the wolves up North. I hope he is 100% now! Your Detroit sweet pizza looks delicious. Thanks for providing a link to your recipe. I want to try it, after Terry and I get our weights down!!! I think I have a spring form cake pan somewhere! We've had snow in recent days, but the serious Colorado sunshine is melting it quickly. Have a great week, my friend!
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about Jack. I'm with you on this one. Been into Christmas since right after Halloween 🎃. Love it! PS. Snow looks pretty.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful food you have .. yum!
ReplyDeleteAnd the dogs are funny and also on the video as they look out of the car window and he sings you another song before Toll (who wants to go out and go for a walk). The cat watches the bird and the bird back like funny !!
I'll think about the new topic * wink *
Happy new week!
Greetings Elke
Good work treating the doggie.
ReplyDeleteWe had a cat who licked the ce on a window, once. Took a bit to figure it out. Then, there was the one that burned her tongue chewing the Christmas tree cord.
Yummy food, but none I could serve here. :'(
Another great post, I always enjoy your photographs, and your food looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteLoved the video :)
All the best Jan
PS You did well treating Jack
Great photos. HAHA....Jack sounds like me, an accident waiting to happen. I remember back sometime when Jack was down for another reason. Glad that he let you treat him. Love the pic with the hat on. And yes, those whiskers are LOOONG! Beautiful pic of the Blue Jay. SNOW....looks like you guys have a lot already. But then again, you always seem to have it all winter long where you live. Thinking TN will not be getting any again this yr. However we did have our little dusting at the first of Nov. That was a total shocker as it was and way to early! We are actually having temps in the high 50s to low 60s right now. Course I am good with that, a light jacket and I am good. Yes, we are preparing for Thanksgiving this week. I was ready to veg at home with the furs but I will be driving to visit Amber and the family. She is a pretty good cook. Father in law does the dressing and turkey, Amber is doing ham and other dishes, I am taking some rolls, tea, deviled eggs and for the kids Rice Krispies treats for the kids. Son in laws sister will bring a dish or two also. Hoping you enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteyour food looks amazing considering you are using up your freezer leftovers! Glad Jack is ok.
ReplyDeleteWow - the picture of the Blue Jay looks amazing, Rain. Wonderful close-up. And Jack looks so dapper in Alex's hat! :) And finally... that Chicago Pizza looks amazing. All of your food looks amazing - all the time. I just had to single out the pizza this time. It's a show stopper.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you,Rain! Breakfast for dinner is perfectly awesome!!! Precious little Jack is a hoot! Really happy he is on the mend. Have a wonderful week. We are heading to Georgia for thanksgiving with the family, and it’s sure to be very festive, and warmer temps than on the ridge here. Have a great art day!
ReplyDeleteoh these images of pets are ABSOLUTELY CAPTIVATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletecaptured so artistically :) great job dear Rain !
this is relief to know that Jack is feeling normal ,how daring to put hand in his mouth while there was possibility of his anger ,i am so happy for him :)
i am glad that you are enjoying your snowy weather beautifully ,your food comes always with diversity of presentation astonishingly :) so mouthwatering believe me :)
wishing you more joys and peace in your days ahead my dear friend !
Rain,
ReplyDeleteThat's quite the snowfall in your yard. I'm happy to just draw snowy scenes and you keep the real stuff, k? :) Mmmm, your Chicago Style Pizza looks yummy good. I've tried making homemade pizza with mediocre success. It's not worth the time or expense so I'll just order pizza delivery. :) Now, your Shortbread Bites is something I can do with success, I'm sure of! What is that candy sprinkles incorporated in the dough? I'll have to check out your recipe. With Thanksgiving just days away, I can't help but think about Christmas, too. We got our Christmas decorations up over the weekend. I have just a little more to do but the majority of it is set up. I have things scaled down quite a bit from when the children were at home. Next year, Lord willing, if we're in a bigger place then the decorations will come out in score! :) Stay warm and have a good week, my dear!
Wow! That Deep Dish Pizza looks like something I've actually seen on the Food Network. I agree, breakfast food for dinner is always neat, and your meal looks so yummy! Do you put your pics on Instagram? Yay to Jack feeling good and doing his thing! Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha :) I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
ReplyDeleteThanks Valerie :) I'm kind of waiting out the mild weather today and hoping it'll melt some of that snow so I don't have to shovel it lol...fingers crossed. I love my furry family, they really make my life complete!!! So much love in the house!
ReplyDeleteHi Debra :) Next time it'll be chocolate sprinkles. Your comment reminded me of Homer Simpson...mmmmm. sprinkles.... :)
ReplyDeleteThat's funny Marsha! I do the same thing when I watch dog and cat videos, our pets always wonder where this mysterious sound is coming from! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks TB :) Good idea about the decorating! We pick December 10th as our tree trimming and decorating day every year. It's become a tradition for us!
ReplyDeleteThanks Louise :) He's hard to resist! I love his howl! Something about the hound dogs...Oh the pizza...it's SUPER filling and honestly VERY starch heavy...don't plan on operating heavy machinery if you make it...total food coma lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ivy :) Me too...right after Halloween I started thinking about my Christmas meals to prepare!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Elke :) The dogs love to be in the car but if one of us gets out, they search! It's very sweet! I can't wait to see what you come up with for Thursday! So glad you are joining in!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn :) The pets are so hard to figure out. Baby Oscar has a thing for packing tape...he loves to chew on it so we have to be careful with boxes hanging around...our other cat licks the ice off the windows too! Funny critters!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jan :) We try to heal our pets at home as much as possible. Vet care is just way too expensive!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam :) Yes! Jack had some problem back in the winter of 2018. We brought him to vets and they said he'd never climb stairs again, likely had a broken tail and some other crackpot diagnosis I can't remember...he recovered and jumps around like a puppy. This time, I'm so glad we didn't run to the vet! I'm glad you're going out for Thanksgiving! Let someone cook for you and enjoy yourself!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine :) The freezer was jam-packed...I do it every year...I'm so glad I found a good use for everything, we're nearly ready to defrost it now!
ReplyDeleteThanks Becki :) That pizza really is delicious! Very filling though, there is a LOT of crust there!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dino :) Enjoy your Thanksgiving! I hope you have a nice time. Warmer weather sounds just right! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Baili :) Poor Jack, he's so sweet but he gets so scared when he has pain...this is from an abusive past and we've tried to love him so much so that he knows he can trust us. Still though, he gets scared. But he did so well this time around, he let me put my fingers in his mouth to check and he just growled, no biting! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy :) But I don't WANT the real stuff...ugh lol...actually I would miss the four seasons (well, more like two now)...if I didn't have them! :) You keep enjoying your weekly pizza delivery!! :) I used to LOVE takeout pizza, but we live so far from any restaurant now, I've tried my best to perfect the pizza and I'm pretty close! :) We eat so much of it. Yes, I put candly sprinkles in the dough, it gives it a little crunch. Next time I'll omit them, but I also have chocolate sprinkles, that's an idea. When I have my home, I'm going GANGBUSTERS on the decorating that's for sure!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks RO :)) Oh, I closed my IG account last summer. I found that I was getting a bit too obsessed with it! I missed blogging so that's my main social media outlet now!
ReplyDeleteOhhh so glad Jack is better - that probably hurt a lot and good that it stopped bleeding. I can't believe what a trip to the vet charges. we had to get our cat's shots updated ..this time just the rabies and up here in the mountains where she has gone to the vet before it was a requirement now that they have to have a physical before they give the one shot and the cost 100 dollars for physical and another 30 for the shot. we went down the mountain to the saturday clinic at petco where they do shots and after about a 15 minute wait she had her shot and i think it was only 20 dollars and no physical. when we leave town for the holidays we always have to put her in a pet hotel at Petsmart so that is costly and she hates it but we have no choice and of course all shots must be up to date for that, which is good. your food looks and sounds delicious. the mountain ranges here are going to get slammed according to weather reports and i'm dreading driving home in it after the holiday..
ReplyDeleteYour kitty made me say, ahhhhh....so cute! And your doggie is pretty swell too, like that happy, tres cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm craving a shortbread now, can I have one?😋😚
Happy week Rain.❤

Thanks Sandy :) Having sick pets is such a stressor...I always tell myself "would I run to the doctor or just wait and see if I can fix it myself??". You know that's insane about the vet cost. It's the same here, we have to bring Baby Oscar in next week for a yearly exam JUST to renew his allergy prescription - HIGHWAY ROBERRY!!! Be careful with that mountain weather!!! I personally refuse to drive in any winter weather these days. If there is snow/hail/freezing rain in the forecast, I reschedule everything! Have a happy Thanksgiving!!! And be safe!!
ReplyDeleteHi Geraldine :) I'm afraid the shortbread is all gone!!! LOL! :)
ReplyDeleteI am glad Jack is better and Charlie is adorable with that hat on! Nancy
ReplyDeleteNot sure what I will be baking for Holidays. I don't need a lot of sugary things hanging around.
ReplyDeleteOne of ladies I take care of brought up Divinity.
Coffee is on
Thanks Nancy :) It's so hard when the furballs are sick or injured!!
ReplyDeleteHi Dora :) I don't need extra sugar either, but I don't really care this time of year! :) I still have to finalize all of the menus before the big shopping day though!
ReplyDeletewhat a delicious post! Glad Jack is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!!!
Thanks Peggy :) Jack is really back to normal now, phewf! :)
ReplyDeleteYour kitty is saying, "Here, birdie, birdie."
ReplyDeleteLOL Jo :) Good think birdie didn't fall for it! ;)
ReplyDeletePoor Jack; glad he's better. So funny how the blue jay has its head cocked at you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stefanie, he's back to his old self again, I'm so relieved!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat video of Jack howling or baying was pretty incredible, Rain. Glad he's feeling better with the home remedy. Many times, these work better for people and apparently animals than a doctor visit and surely cost far less.
