Thursday Art Date: Descent and Paint Party Friday!

Hello Friends! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Welcome to Thursday's Art Date, today our theme is Descent. I have a funny feeling that Bugs Bunny's descent is going to be a rough one!

But have no fear, Bugs has none! I asked him to rappel down a rock cave so I could draw his descent and all I had to pay him was a bucket of carrots for his time. ๐Ÿ˜Š I did this drawing with graphite pencils (4B, 2B and HB).

I followed a tutorial for my lovely Betta Fish, gracefully descending into the ocean. I really love the colours on this drawing! I used Prismacolor pencils and a white acrylic gel pen for highlights.

I'm also linking up with Paint Party Friday tomorrow!  Why not join in next Thursday for our art date? Or check out Paint Party Friday to join in on their weekly art challenge!

It's been a beautiful summer! I love the heat and humidity! Of course I can say that because I have an air conditioner and a big fan cooling the house down! ๐Ÿ˜„ After all of the challenges that Alex and I have faced over the last few months, I feel like we're finally getting our lives back to normal. It's such a relief! It's also hard to believe we've only been at our new home for just two and a half months! Boy does time fly.

Speaking of time flying, that's all for now folks! Please check out the link widget below for more Descent artwork!

If you're on Instagram, let me know so I can follow you!! Click on the images to link to my Instagram accounts! One of the reasons why I re-joined Instagram was to motivate myself to create art daily. It's fun to share and to see what other people are up to every day as well.

  1. Wow, Bugs worked cheap, didn't he? Of course, you did all the work. It's a beautiful drawing and so is Bugs flying in that plane as he is descending. Of course, that beta fish is out of this world. You draw SO well, Rain. I'm truly impressed with your drawing, painting, and coloring skills. Gorgeous inspirations, all.

  3. Abstract Love is cool. And your Beta fish - WoW, that's pretty. It's hard to believe that 2 months have passed already since that first picture of you arriving at your home in the dark. I'm so glad things are going well at this point! :)

  4. Hi Rain, lovely art as always. Sorry, can't join in this week, too many health-catastrophes going on just now. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie

  6. My favorite color pencils are Prisma. They seem to have every color known to man. I have the 64 count color boxes. I love doing illumination drawings. I do them in ink first then I color them in. I think they are pretty.

  7. Google gave me ancestry instead of descent
unfortunately I always have to have everything translated and always copy and Google doesn't make it easy for me!

Your painted pictures are great on the subject and the fish is beautiful!
Have a good week both of you and take good care of yourself, hugs Elke

  8. Hi, I found you through Elizabeth´s (I love real rain (we have near to none), so that is a catchy name).
Wonderful art - maybe not so much for someone who´s afraid of heights, but, well... sitting sound and safe in front of my PC in cold Germany.
To your other post: I have pepper foam, maybe better in case of it being a windy day? I was always afraid to knock myself out with pepper spray (not that I ever had to use it!).

  9. Morning Rain, so happy to have been able to link up with you this week and I managed to do it before I head off to take care of my care duties for the last time this week.. roll on the weekend! I'm sure bugs loved making his descent for the treasure which i'm sure is 24/carrot for him hee hee!!
Your Beta Fish is so beautiful, lovely peaceful colours, I can feel her movement as she glides on through the water.
Due to lack of time I don't use instagram anymore, i'm clinging onto time for blogger right now so it better behave with all it's changes.
Wishing you a very happy weekend ahead, we have been promised sunshine, with some jobs needing doing in the garden I do hope the forecast is right.
Stay safe & Happy TAD hugs Tracey xx

  10. lol, I think your rock cave looks like an old water well. I wonder why that is??? :) I hope your water supply stays on the good side.
And I like your Betta fish. colorful and elegant at the same time.

I too think that Bugs will be worried when lifting his eyes. :)

    Take care!

  12. Rain,

LOL, I predict Bugs descent is going to be a little bumpity, bump. :) Your sense of humor is so great. I love that ole Bugs decides the best time to read a "How to Fly" manual is while he's flying. :D Great job on the artwork depicting his descent into a very dark cave. You couldn't pay me enough to go down a hole in the ground. It sounds like you gotta way pretty easy paying Bugs with a bucket of carrots to do the job, though. Beautiful, beautiful colors on your Betta Fish - nice job! Thanks for hosting the creative fun, my friend. Have a doodletastic day! ;)

  20. Thanks Leanna :) I love the Prismacolor pencils, now that I know how to use them properly. I love to layer and blend! I had to look up the illumination drawings...those are really neat. I don't have those neon colours in my set though, I have the 48 pack. I would love to get the full set one of these days!

  21. Thanks Elke :) I hope you have a wonderful week as well! Ancestry is another definition for descent! There is always something lost in translation but honestly, it's about the art, not really the exact word! :)

  22. Hi Iris! :) Thanks so much for stopping by! And thanks for the compliment about my name. :) You wouldn't catch me rappelling down a cave either! I really hope I never find out about the pepper spray on a windy day. I have a feeling I won't ever have to use it, but it's like buying insurance I guess! :)

  23. Thanks Tracey :) LOL @ 24/carrot! :) Very clever!! :) I'm so happy you were able to join in this week too. You're such a busy lady. I hope you get your sunshine. We've had lots of it and now we're getting some much needed rain, it's not cooling off yet though!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks Monica :) Oh I thought about that after I drew the cave, it does look like a deep EMPTY well doesn't it??? ;) Coincidence that it's on my mind!!

  25. Hi Kokopelli :) Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a chance to join in, it's so much fun, I'll see you tomorrow for PPF! :)

  26. Thanks Cathy :) I loved your comment, I'm glad you enjoy my sense of humour! I would never voluntarily get into ANY hole in the earth...especially rappelling! I like my feet planted.

  27. Thanks Karen :) I don't think I would have been very happy without the a/c this summer. That big fan we just installed is really helping out a lot too.

  38. Oh no for Bugs but I'm sure he'll land safely.

I really like the colors you use for Betta Fish, he/she looks sparkling.

I don't love the heat or the humidity but I don't have air conditioning like you.

    Happy Paint Party.

  39. Thanks Lissa :) That was a new one for me, the colours for the Betta Fish...I normally don't go so brilliant and I'm happy that I did. My pink pencils are practically new lol! :)

  40. Hi Rain, and it seems Bugs is having a tough time in this week's artwork. The beta fish was a really beauty and I could almost see shimmering in the scale details. So happy that your home is turning out to be a happy place for you and Alex and the pets, best news ever!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thanks Dorothy :)) I'm so happy to report good news, we definitely needed some good luck!! I'm so happy you noticed the shimmer in the scales, that's exactly what I was going for! And don't worry about Bugs...he's pretty resilient! :)

  52. Oh my , it is Saturday already and I am just getting to my comments. Time does get away from me all too easily. So Bugs does remind me of the many times I have tried to do something only to have to go dig out the directions from some faraway place ... glad that Bugs decided to do it before it was too late. Your Beta is gorgeous ... and flows as the Beta does. And, the colors are dreamy. Your art is awesome Rain. Bugs is braver than I am as I would never repel down that hole, carrots or no. Sometimes I watch on Discovery channel people exploring caves or going into dark unknown places ... not for me. Tooooooo scary. So glad you are finally getting to enjoy your new place with some peace and quiet and always your good food. You have much to look forward to, I would say. I do have an Instagram account but I will never be able to post daily so I haven't done anything with it for an age. I will check you out though and will let you know if I do post. Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend to enjoy ... Be well, Rain ...

  53. Thanks Andrea :) I'm so glad you enjoy my art and the art date! I was just thinking that at least Bugs actually looked at the manual, whereas I often try to "wing" it...not a good thing! You wouldn't catch me down a dark hole either! I remember when you started with Instagram, I know you had some issues, I remember that!
