Thursday Art Date: Goblins and Trolls ☠️☠️

Hello Friends, 😊

Welcome to Thursday's Art Date, today our theme is Goblins and Trolls. I decided to stick to goblins, they are a little less evil than the trolls out there today! 😊 Poor Daffy, I don't think he's going to get much stress relief with Bugs playing a green goblin today!

My she-goblin isn't very happy, poor gal. I did this with pigment liner pens, graphite pencils and my white acrylic paint pen.

Pumpkin Hobgoblin (watercolours)

I saw an image like this online and wanted to try it out with my watercolours, it was a lot of fun! I'm challenging myself to be a little more loose in my painting. I have a bad habit of needing to fill every space with colour! Sometimes less is more!

I made more cheese the last few weeks. A Colby, another Jarlsberg and some Camemberts. These are the Cams. In about 8 weeks, they'll have formed their bloomy white mould and be ready to eat! Alex and I have been working hard on the house and we got almost all of the tasks completed. We have a few big projects happening this month and I'll update you all about those another time! It's nice to be back!

My sweet furry critters!

We haven't had time for much exploring lately but we're going to try to get out by the river and into the woods this week, hopefully we'll see some wildlife!

Autumn is in full swing here in the Maritimes! The blueberry fields have turned a beautifully stunning red colour and the backyard maples and birch trees are turning as well...

...but the mornings are cold and a layer of frost glazes the fields and plants. My garden was an epic failure by the way, 'nuff said...

I love this time of year! Saturday mornings are perfect to stay in bed and watch cartoons! That's all for now folks! Please check out the link gadget below to see more Goblins and Trolls artwork!

  2. Wonderful post! Sorry, can't join in today, no time for anything! See you again next week, hugs, Valerie

  3. Hello Rain,
Oh yeah, the bright green one, the poor guy has to pay attention, great scene painted and your goblin woman and the pumpkin hobgoblin are so beautifully drawn and with watercolor.
Your sweet dog gang and the beautiful autumnal cold landscape are great photos.
What a cheese parade, so delicious and hard-working. That sounds good, that you've made progress with your work.
I wish you a nice good autumn time, hugs, Elke

  4. Hi Rain, really like the pumpkin watercolour - this time of year makes me feel creative so I may join in with you one week soon, I haven't had time to paint for ages. So sorry about the garden fail but you had that huge setback when everything got flattened, you have achieved so much and got through some massive hurdles, you did very well and it's all experience for next year - maybe you can prepare the beds for next Season and buy in small plants rather than growing from seed, to start your first year off - I hope there are farmers markets or other growers that you can swap and share with. I think anyone with success seems to have a glass greenhouse (here anyway) I have had my name down for ages on an allotment (small patch of land to grow veg on, run by council and tended by the likes of me :)) there's a wait list of 12 and only about 20 spaces so not sure how that will ever work out lol. Love seeing your dogs. Betty x

  5. So nice to see you and the critters back, Rain. Bugs is fearsome! Lovely pics of the colours and the critters. That cheese...yum. As for the garden, there is always next year! Have a good day.

  6. I think bugs have a lot of fun in his green outfit. :)
I love your pumpkin goblin. I would love to try your cheeses. But sadly I can´t anymore. Some years ago I realized my soared fingers was due to cheese and all milk products. I´m allergic to it. :(
I see you had frost. It will probably take a while before we have frosty mornings. And that blueberry field...hard to believe.
Take care, stay well. Your furry friends seem to want to get out for a walk.
    :)

  7. Happy October 1, Rain! WOW, I keep saying every month how I can't believe it's a new month but here we are in our 10th month of 2020 and it's true, I can't believe it's a new month! Your Loony Tune sketches always make me smile. Daffy definitely isn't going to relieve his stress with Goblin Bugs just over his shoulder. lol Your Pumpkin Hobgoblin watercolor piece is fantastic. I'm like you I feel the need to do more when less is more than enough. Your cheeses look yummy. I know you and Alex can't wait to dive into those beautiful cheese wheels. Let me know when it's ready and I'll be right up! :D Hockey smoke, look at those fall colors?! Simply gorgeous, I tell you!! I'm not sure what our landscape will look like by the end of the month but it's rarely that good around town. We generally see some nice autumn shades in the upper elevations of the mountains but we haven't felt like going with all of this mess surrounding us. I hate being sick, even if it's not lethal, I do not want to feel bad. It takes weeks and months sometimes to recover in the past with just a bad sinus infections leaves me drained, a nasty hack, and a nose that takes forever to clear up. Ugh, ugh, ugh! What this, you're eating Fruit Loops? Now, I want some! Actually, I want the Cheerio's version. Have you had those? I think they are better than Fruit Loops. They are less sweet tasting and more fruit flavor. Fruit Loops are a bit rough on the mouth or at least it used to be. Fruity Cheerio's are easier to eat. Unfortunately, I haven't seen the Fruity Cheerio's in our area in months. :( Thanks for hosting this wonderful weekly art party. Your prompts are always so much fun to attempt. Have a doodletastic day. Stay safe and be well, dear friend!

  11. Your artwork this week is fantastic. I especially love your Hobgoblin Pumpkin. You mastered your new technic on your first try ... I am impressed :) I love cheese, but I buy mine at the store ... yours look so much better. I would like to reach into that picture and snatch a bite :) I love your little pups ... they look so sad, but I know that look. It means come on Mom, it's time to go outside :) Our fall is just starting. All of the yellows are out, but the reds and oranges are just beginning. I love the fall for all it's beauty and for the fresh, crisp air we breath. Glad to have you back full blown. I don't worry about you being safe because you are out and away from groups of people ... just be careful when you shop. Happy October, Rain ... see you next week :)

  12. Hi Rain. I have missed your post so I am happy you still do TAD. Love your pieces but my fave is the watercolor. That is stellar. Send some cheese my way. LOL I am getting ready to make some feta in the next few weeks. As I write I have apples in my instant pot for apple butter to can. Also the peals and cores are in a pot boiling down for apple jelly.
The weather here is too strange due to the fires here and in CA. N. CA is on fire and it has effected our air quality again and ash is falling like snow. Our temps are at least 10°F hotter than normal. Anyway it is nice to see you today. Take care and enjoy your day.

  21. Wow Rain, such wonderful Autumn colors! Very jealous. Both in New Home and The Ranch we scarcely get such a display; evergreens do not do anything and the oak leaves just turn brown and fall off.

    Love the Pumpkin.

You deserve if after doing your project list! Sorry about the garden failure, but the cheese looks great, as always. Nice to see the pets looking so comfy and no frost here yet. But we are finally getting back to cooler temps and I am so glad.

Glad your projects are coming along and frost on the ground already! Have you ever seen the show Seeing Canada hosted by Brandy Yanchyk? She did a nice section of one show on the maritime area

  32. I can't imagine how much fun it must be, and how satisfying to make your own cheese. If I lived close by I would immediately apply for the position of official taster! Life without cheese (and a little wine) would barely be worth living! Enjoy what's left if the weekend!

  33. I do love camembert cheese but never heard of anyone making it at home. But I guess that's where it all started so many years ago in France.

  45. My vegetable garden is an epic disaster in that the seed packets are still on the kitchen table. It seems like an ambitious project making cheeses, or is it easier than I think? Love the style of the pumpkin painting. I see from your sidebar that your hands are full with furry kids...never a lonely day or night :) Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a very nice comment.

  51. Your cheese looks so good, Rain. How much fun to make your own cheese. We went to a plant based cheese making class last year. It was fun and delicious. LOL

I thought that looked like a layer of frost on those plants. It's still early for us, but we may see some in a couple of weeks. I am loving the cooler weather here though.

  52. Well Bugs sure is sporting a new look!!SCARY....I love it. Halloween is my fave holiday. Great water color pic. Are you still taking classes? How is that going? WOW....WOW....fall colors up your way are amazing. We are just starting to do some changing. We have had a lot of rain the past yr so I am really hoping that helps with our colors. Beautiful....Woke yesterday to a thick fog here. Temps were amazing, even today it will be in the 70s but with no humidity I love these 70s. Even next week we will have a day in the 80s...Our nights are dropping in the 50s. The other day it was 40s. LOVE IT...my fave time of the yr. I even did some paintings on the deck yesterday. Sorry about your garden, but hopes in next yr. Horse poop.....cover your garden in old horse poop. The new poop will be hot and burn things up so go for older...

  53. Hi Rain sorry if it's looked like i'm stalking this week, everytime I went to comment someone/thing interrupted so left your page open till had chance to comment properly. Love your watercolour Pumpkin, you captured his mean side perfectly. Your she/goblin pen sketch is very pretty too.
Off to make a note of your themes for the year and really hope I can get chance to join in again very soon, with care work and looking after Mum's during this trying time everyday seems to eat away any spare time I have.
Enjoy the changing colours of the season and hugs to your special fur babies.
    Stay safe Tracey xx

  59. Your Pumpkin Hobgoblin is downright spooky. And oh my goodness - what gorgeous autumn colors you have there. Everything here is just sort of drying and falling off the trees brown or a subdued yellow. I'm hoping we get a week or two of color, but we've had such a drought the last month and a half, I just don't know if we're going to have much color.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Aww!! Your backyard is so picturesque. Nature has its own way to brighten up the scenery. Also loved that Pumpkin Hobgoblin. Have a lovely October. Stay well.

  67. That blueberry field is stunning, Rain! Wow! Fall in the Maritimes is gorgeous. We have beautiful golden leaves against a deep blue sky in Colorado, but we have little of the fiery oranges and reds, unless they're planted around homes. I love everything about this post, but I especially love your fur babies. Take care!

  69. I also love this time of year. In my little corner of the world, I’m happy with the gradual cooling and changing colors. It will take more than a month when the colors of autumn foliage becomes fabulous like yours. The scarecrow is so lovely that doesn’t look able to scare crows. Home-made cheese, paintings… you’re so talented.
