Settled in the Maritimes of Canada, surrounded by the forest and Acadian Mountain Chain, I live a simple life of gratitude. This blog is a journal of my art, food, furkids, garden, home, my life and my thoughts. Thanks for reading!
Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art Date! 😊😊 Today our theme is Fairies! The Tasmanian Devil certainly isn't the type of Tooth Fairy you want to wake up to in the middle of the night!
I have to make this post short unfortunately. Time is escaping me. Baby Oscar the cat had to go to the vet this week, he has a bladder infection, likely a UTI. It was a bit of an emergency because he was having trouble peeing. But...I'm blessed that he will survive, he's on a lot of meds though. It's monthly shopping week too! And I'm starting my window garden this weekend as well! What are you all up to?
I'll be catching up with everyone's blogs this weekend!!!
That's all for now folks! Please check out the link widget below for more "Fairies" creations! See you soon!!! 💗 💗

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday's Art Date! 😊😊 Today our theme is Dragons. Bugs had a great idea to pose as Bilbo Bunny Baggins. The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings were stories I read over and over during my teenage years...and as an adult, I have very much enjoyed the movies! This is a scene where an unsuspecting Bilbo is about to realize he's not alone! Smaug, the Dragon, is watching his every move!
Thanks so much to Christine for stepping in when I was in need. ♥ I feel like I'm still quite depressed, but the longer days are helping me get out of bed...despite the pain we all have to endure, life must go on.
Here is my ink and graphite drawing of a Dragon underwater. I enjoyed this drawing, a little different from what I normally do.
I also uploaded the video showing me creating this drawing. It's time-lapsed and it shows my process from start to finish.
Back in January, I'd recorded about a dozen of these #shorts videos of me drawing various Looney Tunes. I uploaded a few of them the last few weeks if you're interested.
As for food, it's been pretty much comfort meals. I made two versions of Linguine Puttanesca. I was in the mood for green olives and I used capellini pasta in mine.
We're in "empty the freezer/pantry" mode lately! We had potatoes to eat so I made my Fricassee Potatoes and melted some Cheddar on top. Yum! I guess this could be a variation on the Poutine...maybe that's a stretch!
I'm officially OUT of canned tomatoes, spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce! From the 180 pounds of tomatoes I canned last September, I have 2 Mason jars of salsa left. Geez...I'm going to have to get 250 pounds of tomatoes next fall so I'll have enough at least until spring! Ideally I've love to be able to grow that much on my own...and I have a big garden planned this year, I'll cross my fingers that I'll get that many!
I also made Breakfast Burritos. These burritos are filled with the Fricassee Potatoes, Cheddar, Salsa and some cooked eggs. Sometimes I'll add kidney beans if I have them.
Part of my frugal life is trying NOT to leave the house from New Year's through to March...it's not always possible, but so far I've been able to stay home for the last month. I'm experimenting these days...making my Camembert Cheese using milk and cream that I put in the freezer last December. I guess I'll know in 6 weeks how that turns out!
That's all for now folks! Please check out the link widget below for more "Dragons" creations! See you soon!!! 💗 💗

We had to say goodbye to our sweet girl Charlie yesterday. The diagnosis was not good - likely a slipped disc in her neck. This required a CAT scan, a spinal tap, a high likelihood of neck surgery, hospital stays and rehabilitation. Because neck surgery in animals is so delicate and dangerous, it would have had to get done at a teaching hospital by a specialist. Even if we could have made the trip to Prince Edward Island to the teaching hospital, the estimated cost was about $10,000. How do they expect people to afford this? 💔
A strong dose of morphine didn't even ease my poor little girl's pain. We made the excruciating choice to put her out of her pain. Three beloved babies in less than 5 months, it's impossible to process.
Would anyone like to host the art date for a few weeks? If so, would you send me an email or contact me through the contact form on my right sidebar? I can send you the HTML code for the link widget.
Thanks friends, thanks to all those who sent prayers, healing energy and love. 💙💙
Today our theme is Kindness! I decided that Kindness would be my word for 2022, I will be the kindest person I can be (not just in 2022!)! I think that being kind has a wonderfully fulfilling effect on both the person giving and the person receiving.
For this week, I decided to draw Sylvester The Cat showing an act of kindness to Tweety Bird:
On screen these two are rivals, but in person, they adore each other!
Here is my latest video on my Spiritual Rain YouTube channel. It's an empowerment reading I did for myself and for anyone in need - I recently put an end to a toxic friendship and I discuss it in this video. Toxic people can just destroy your health and steal your energy. Sometimes it's hard to let them go.
Well, my Charlie is NOT improving. I am terribly upset about this, I feel so useless, I don't know how to help her. She was doing better, then bang...back to yelping every time she tries to get up or move her head. She couldn't even get up on her own for dinner tonight! 😢The meds finish on Monday then it's back to the vet. I feel like I'm being drained financially. But I will do all I can to help her and to stay as positive as I can!
Not too much on the food front this week, but I did manage to sneak in some pizza! I've been super busy. I attended a free online seminar hosted by Tony Robbins (he's a motivational speaker). It was 6 days, a good 4 hours each day; and it was fabulous. I learned so much and I'm applying all of the knowledge I learned! Are you a follower of Tony Robbins? I hope you're all doing well my friends!! Be kind to each other!!
Just a note: my online presence will be greatly diminished for the next little while. I'm putting all of my energy into my studies! It's very exciting. Wish me luck!
Today's featured blogger is Diana from Nana Diana Takes A Break blog! Diana is such a fun lady with a great sense of humour. She has a new puppy and she often posts his hijinks on Instagram! Please visit her blog and her Instagram page!

Welcome to Thursday's Art Date! 😊😊 Today our theme is A Winter Night Scene. I used my Prismacolor Pencils with solvent to create this scene of Bugs Bunny - cozy warm inside while it's cold and wintry outside! I used acrylic white paint for the snow.
February's themes are all about feelings and emotions! I challenge you my friends to really express emotion in your pieces for next month. I want to feel what you draw, paint, photograph etc!!!
My tribute to the man who started it all for me - Bob Ross! Back in 2013, I watched all 403 The Joy of Painting television shows (by the way they are all free on Bob Ross' YouTube Channel!). After watching the series, I decided I wanted to paint and I started with oils. Here I have Bob painting A Winter Night Scene!!
I recorded my real-time tutorial, How To Draw Bob Ross, if you'd like to follow along! I got my new microphone so I was able to finally record a voiced art lesson!
I also have my latest #SHORTS video up on the channel: Drawing Elmer Fudd.
Aimeslee, you wanted food, you get food! (PS Aimeslee: I'm a HUGE Stooges fan!!) Here's my Penne Alla Vodka...so good!
I've been craving salad so much lately and I did a big frugal-no-no...bought a $6 head of Boston Lettuce just to soothe that craving, sigh...but it was so worth the ridiculous price! I made a Balsamic Vinaigrette with 15 year-old Balsamic. Oh my, the older the vinegar, the sweeter it is! I also topped the salad with Homemade Croutons. These are really good for snacking too! (I used Wonder Bread that I had in the freezer and it worked very well!)
Trying to empty the pantry and fridge, I made Rice Pilaf and mashed potatoes to go with the salad.
I tried making Milles Feuilles again (Napoleans)...they were absolutely delicious! But I added too much whipped cream to the filling and they fell flat. And I added too much milk to the glaze so the chocolate "chevrons" are all loopy...I was rushing too much! But don't worry, we still ate them!
We had a vet emergency this week too...(can you believe it? Another one!). Sweet Charlie-girl hurt her neck somehow. We gave it a few days to see if she'd get better but she was yelping in pain by Tuesday so we brought her to the vet. She has a damaged rotator cuff (the muscle and tendon group that helps rotate the neck, arm and shoulder). She very likely slipped on the ice outside. She's on anti-inflammatory and pain killing meds now. We are hoping it's not too major and she'll recover (with bed rest) in a few weeks. But she likely has early stages of arthritis too, so we are adding Glucosamine and fish oils to her diet from now on. Thanks to my friends on Instagram for sending prayers yesterday, your intentions and love helped a lot! 💗💗💗
We are in quite a cold snap lately, and I'm trying to hibernate and not leave the house! I recorded a video for my Spiritual Rain channel, called "Frozen Hair Day". You know it's cold when you have frozen hair!!! I'm nearly finished my marketing and YouTube program (3 more sessions!) and next week I begin my Tarot 101 course!
Beautiful Jeanie and her husband Rick! (Photo courtesy of Jeanie from The Marmelade Gypsy)

Welcome to Thursday's Art Date! 😊😊 Today our theme is Winter Sports. This little character's name is Playboy Penguin, he's doing a little ice fishing by the Full Wolf Moon. He only made 2 appearances on The Looney Tunes - you might remember him as a silent, sensitive little fella who cried ice cubes! He always looks on the verge of tears doesn't he?
Some people (including me) confuse his name with the character "Chilly Willy" from the Woody Woodpecker show.
←←He was the first Looney Tune I drew back in January of 2018. In fact...I think he was the first drawing I ever did! I used Dollar Store coloring pencils and paper. I was determined to start drawing - even though I kept telling myself I didn't have the talent for it. Bad bad inner voice! Four years later, I'm so glad I pursued this!
I pulled out the watercolors again! I thought about ice skating as a winter sport. I used to love watching the winter Olympics and the 1984 ice dancing finals came to mind where England's Torvill and Dean skated their gold-medal performance to Bolero and it brought back so many memories! I wanted to capture movement in the paint.
Here's the video of Torvill and Dean skating to "Bolero" at the 1994 Olympics. They didn't compete, this was an exhibition. It's so moving!! Do you remember this? Are you a fan of ice skating and ice dancing? I just loved this!!
Here is my latest "#Shorts" video for my art channel! Drawing Daffy Duck. One of my cats (lousy varmint!!!) chewed on my microphone so I'm publishing short videos with musical backgrounds until I can replace it!
Here's a video I took a few weeks ago. The Evening Grosbeaks are back at the feeder - and they are in numbers let me tell you!! For the second year in a row, they've arrived just after the new year. The high count was 56 so far, and I'm sure I missed a few because the ladies don't have that bright yellow like the chaps and at first glance, I was confusing them with other birds!

Welcome to Thursday's Art Date! 😊😊 Today our theme is By The Fire. Sylvester and Tweety Bird are braving the weather for some winter camping! I bet it's nice and cozy by that campfire!
I was talking with my friend Martha from Plowing Through Life blog and Mystical Empowerment Blog and YouTube Channel, the other day. We've both had a tough 2021 and she mentioned that she felt like the both of us were rising up from the ashes of 2021 for greater things in 2022! This inspired my charcoal drawing this week! Rising like a Phoenix from the fire! 😊
Not much going on in the kitchen lately! After the indulgence of the holiday season, we are sticking to soups, leftovers and light pasta dishes. I had leftover Chocolate Sauce and it was perfect for hot chocolate! I did however manage to sneak in a Poutine and a few Focaccia Pizzas!! I'm sure that doesn't surprise anyone!!! 😊
