Here is my watercolour version of Picket Fence.
I missed my blog post last week for the Scribble Picnic too, I was only able to post this one on Instagram, but I wanted to share it. Better late than never! The theme was Quilts. Bugs is a Jack of All Trades! :)
My watercolour Quilt. Which movie do you think she's watching? :) I remember watching Jaws for the first time as a kid and it scared the bleep out of me!! I believe I watched most of it from under the coffee table in the living room lol...
I've been really busy lately planting my seeds for the summer garden. Alex had to put up three more shelves as we squeezed all of these pots into the "window garden".
Alex put up more shelves in the kitchen window and we officially christened it the "Kitchen Window Garden". :) Big plans for the garden this summer! The weather is nice and mild, there are thunderstorms in the forecast for the rest of the week...sigh...poor husky Marlene will be having a hard time! How is life treating you these days? :)

Here, I had The Dental Work done yesterday. Sat for an hour, with my mouth FULLY OPEN~~~~~ While dentist did hand-stands, trying to access, drill, and fill, behind my bottom front teeth, below the gum line.
Let all of that sink in for a minute.
It wasn't pretty.
And today, I have to go back, to have one spot smoothed off. He asked yesterday, but after and hour, I didn't know what the inside of my mouth felt like. LOL.
But spring is here! So I should not moan. :-)

When I was little I had a cat that I called Sylvester but later found that it was a girl and I shouldn't have named it that. A real barn cat with lots of kittens and fleas but she was a good cat. It is hot here, I have been working in the hops patch.

I love a storm, as long as no loss of life or damage of course, I hope the poor pup manages it,, too bad there are no ear plugs for dogs! I suppose as smart as dogs are she would sense that storm coming,, she wouldn't need to hear it,,

ReplyDeleteI have never seen the movie "Jaws" because I have a (irrational?) fear of big things in the water. Never seen "Titanic" either because that would certainly (!) do me in, I know. Other than that, I'm perfectly well-adjusted. (Hahahaheeheeheehohohoho!)
I love the windowsill garden! I haven't tried again growing something after the rosemary fluke. I like your picket fence watercolor; I like how it doesn't have definite lines.

ReplyDeleteJaws was scary for its time and so was The Exorcist! Holy moly did that one freak people out. I still find the movie creepy and I've also read the book.
You've really captured the beauty of that fence - so ethereal. I love your quilts also. Good luck with the plantings! Currently there is a large tray of tomato plants (about a foot high now) in front of the sliding door in my dining room. Last year they got so leggy and didn't produce much. Hoping this year will be better - if it stays consistently warm enough to get them outside!

Good drawings, Rain. I think the scariest film I ever saw was The Exorcist. There have been scarier films made since then.

We are so dry here. Burn bans have been initiated, fires are surrounding our city and in the country. We are in desperate need of some moisture. We need days of solid rain.
Great minds ... so they say. I too have a cat on my picket fence. Love your cartoons ... you should go to work for Disney :) I am impressed with all of your garden preparations ... where do you live? I may want to come your way around August when your are harvesting the fruits of all your work :) You ask, how is life treating us. We are moving. We are giving up our lake house and moving closer to our kids so they can help us with some of the heavy chores that my FH can't do anymore. It is sad to leave, mostly all of my water birds and my wonderful neighbors as well, but one must do what one must do. I will find new things to excite me in my new home, I am sure. Love your painting as well, Rain ... you are an inspiration:)

HA, I have never seen Jaws actually, as, like Saturday night Fever, both movies were rated X in England as the only other designation back if not X was AA which meant you had to to be 14+. I'm thinking that red capped person is watching Snow White though?

haha...what a great painting of the picket fence. Love it. You really have a lot growing in that window! I never start mine inside, I just throw the seeds in the ground and hope for the best. Matter of fact, Monday and Tue was the day of throwing out the seeds....we will see!

I have a few sprouts today but I'm still eyeing them nervously every morning! :) I can't wait until the weather is more stable and warm though, so I can transfer them outside. Oh gosh...I'm sorry you had to go through that at the dentist! I hate going there! But yes, spring is here, and by now it's all over for you :) Spam...you can't avoid it! :)

YES...as I reply to this, there IS still snow out there! But it is melting quite quickly! The woods though, that may take a few more weeks before we can walk there.

ReplyDeleteHi Gill :) Alex's first cat's name was Lana, thought it was a female, he ended up a male so he changed it to Dana, after the 40's movie star Dana Andrews. You're lucky to have that hot weather!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laurie :) Marlene really does sense a storm coming. She starts to pace a little with her ears really up high poor thing. We put her Thunder Shirt on every day now, even if there are no storms so that she doesn't associate it with that fear. We were lucky, we only got rain, but today there is a risk, not looking good! I'm excited to see my plants grow too! :)

That's funny that you mentioned The Exorcist...that was another one that really scared me! I haven't read the book though, but I bet it's better than the movie! They usually are! :)

ReplyDeleteThank you Baili :) Granny was a great Looney Tune!! :) Alex actually downloaded all of those cartoons from the 1930's through to the 1960's...we go through phases where we watch them a lot, I just love those cartoons :) It must be really hot where you live...but I would love to borrow some of that heat!!! :)

Your cat is very cute on the fence, but no fence will hold them in right? :) Well, if you come by, it'll have to be September for the harvest...even October...the seasons are shifting so much lately. I'm sorry that you're giving up the house by the lake, that makes me sad...but you're right, sometimes you just have to adjust to new things. Too bad though! :( I hope you have a nice park nearby where you're moving to.

ReplyDeleteHi Michael :) Funny you mention Snow White as being scary...Alex gave me a second edition version of Grimm's Fairy Tales...they are NOT Disney that's for sure. Lots of scary stuff in those original "tales of caution for children"!!! :) I saw Jaws on tv...probably early 80's before vcr's and all that. It was on the CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corp) and they rarely censored stuff so I'm sure I saw the movie version! That music to this day gives me shivers lol! Thanks for the comment Michael...sorry I missed last week's on the blog! Lots of dog stuff, car stuff and spring stuff going on here in the Laurentians! :)

Jaws movies last summer and they didn't scare us as much as when we were kids. Though that music still makes me uneasy lol! Thanks re: the garden, I'm guessing you've started yours already too!

ReplyDeleteI remember seeing and commenting on these on Instagram though I must have missed the one of the little girl peeking out from under her quilt. I don't recall it. Anywhoo, love your picket fence and quilt sketches! I don't think we ever watched scary stuff as kids, it was more in our teens that we got to see some scary movies. I adore scary movies, especially ones on the paranormal.
