Scribble Picnic 🎃🎃 GHOSTober!🎃🎃 and a GIVEAWAY

GIVEAWAY!!

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to start by offering these 16 Williams Sonoma cookbooks to any of my Canadian friends if they would like them. Note: If you really want them and you are outside of Canada, you'd have to cover the shipping...the 16 books weigh about 15-16 kg (un-boxed), so let me know in the comments as well. :)

If anyone would like these, please let me know in the comments, or send me an email (I have a contact form on my sidebar). Canada Post offers free shipping in Canada for people with business accounts, every Tuesday in October, so I'm taking advantage of that since both Alex and I have a business account!!

They are used but in great condition! They are doubles that I have and I'll tell you, I use them all the time, the recipes overall are wonderful! I'll pick the winner on Sunday October 7th!!! :) Please check back then, I'll announce the winner on that day!!!

Today's Scribble Picnic theme is "Chicken". (please follow the link for more scribbles or to join!) The first chicken that came to mind was Foghorn Leghorn trying to convince Henery Hawk that he really isn't a chicken!

I tried some more of the scratch board style with my Acrylic Chicken. :)

And finally, because it is October...I had to do something scary! Do you remember the Looney Tunes short "Hyde and Tweet"? The first time I saw this as a kid, I was TERRIFIED of the Hyde-Tweety-Bird!!! Poor Sylvester is having some regrets at the moment!! :)

I also joined an Instagram challenge called "Inktober" which is a drawing challenge using ink. There are prompts to follow each day. So far I've kept up and I hope I can do all 31 prompts!  Here are the first three of the month:

"Poisonous"

"Tranquil"

"Roasted"

I've been so busy over the summer that I haven't done too much art, but now I'm really getting into it!

I started my own October challenge that I call Ghostober. Every day in October, I draw or paint a ghost or ghoul and write a short description of the tale. I have them all on My Instagram Page, and I'll post them here every week too! Here are the first three:

Bloody Mary: Bloody Mary will appear on certain nights when her name is spoken three times in front of a mirror. She is an evil spirit who may foretell the future, but at the cost of your life!

La Llorona: La Llorona is the ghost of a woman whose children were lost. She haunts the river beds, moaning and searching for them. Beware those who hear her cries or cross her path for she will bring great misfortune to you!

"The Ghost of Banquo": In Shakespeare's Macbeth, Macbeth has his friend Banquo murdered for fear that Banquo will take the crown from him. After appearing at Macbeth's banquet in ghost form, Banquo foretells the omen "Blood will have blood."

The countdown to Halloween is on! :) Alex and I are watching a horror movie each night and it's a lot of fun! How is your weather? It's cold here in the Laurentians. Lots of rain, lots of frost, lots of below zero temperatures and thankfully we have NO SNOW YET!! But it's definitely the type of weather where nobody wants to get out of bed...especially Jack. :)

  1. I love your comics! I drew Foghorn as a greeting card for my son last year and I totally forgot to snap a picture of it before mailing it off to him. Man, I hated that didn't do that! I ought to sketch another just for the fun of it. At some point in the coming months, I may replace my weekly photo contribution with more sketches. I most of my WW posts done until the end of the year, so I'm not going to mess with them much other than adding the Scribbles artwork and ABCWednesday. I'm ready to change things up starting after the New Year.

Your Ghostober series is very cool! The only thing spooky I've drawn is of a Zombie in 2017 A to Z challenge. :) It looks like you're having such fun. I'm ready to have more fun illustrating, too.

    Have a good week!

  2. I love seeing all the art you’ve been doing! How talented you are! My niece has worked in the haunt industry and we have a mutual friend who goes across the country teaching about haunt things. I had no idea it was such a huge year round industry!
Enjoy your movies and this October full of some of your favorite things and activities!

  3. Jack looks so cozy! I love the idea of watching a horror movie every night - except that I need someone to cling onto through the scary bits! Maybe Lovey will sit in... :)

  5. Wow, you are being productive, Rain! I won't comment on some of these as have already on your IG but seriously impressive how much you are outputting. Ha, you can tell this is definitely your time of year!

I've not seen that Hyde version with Tweety Bird but, boy, does that sounds fun! And you know, I was discussing with Alex that foghorn Leghorn reminds me of the good ol boys here in KY! Whoa. too funny. I love that, "I'm a chicken hawk and that's a chicken" comment too. Too cute. Love all these. Thank you so much.

  6. The new them, btw, is "Bottle." I'm sure you can have fun with that and one's got two weeks to do it too. :) It ties into Inktober that week too, just a few days prior to when that is due there. :)

  10. Oh my, you are as prolific as ever ... I sure have missed you. I can't imagine below freezing weather yet. We are enjoying fall here, my favorite time of year not only because of the beautiful colors, but because the average temperatures are in the 70's which is ideal. I love your ghouls and ghosts ... though, I have to admit, I am not a fan of horror movies. Life in the USA these days is scary enough without adding to the horror. But I am alone as the rest of my family eats them up and so I am often caught watching them. We have moved into a new neighborhood and there are many, many children so I am expecting a Halloween landslide. I have no idea how much candy to buy for my trick or treaters and I am afraid of buying too much and being left with left overs ... oh the calories. I just can't resist. So good to be back Rain and looking forward to your always interesting and entertaining posts on Scribble Picnic ... See you in two weeks :)

  12. Hey Rain! So nice to see you here. I LOVE your artwork. Looks like you've been busy busy busy. I'm way behind on everything but will spend a lot of time this month catching up. I need to stock up our freezer again with soups, burgers, etc., etc. I always like having things ready that I can just heat up and serve, especially on busy days. Those cookbooks look amazing, so count me in. Will one person get all of them or will you divide them up and share the joy? HAHA

Oh my gosh...JACK...he is so cute! That's me all winter :)

  18. Hello! I love the perfect pick of Jack! He is very precious. I'd love the cookbooks, but am in the lower 48. The scary movie watching is fun this time of year, but some of them scare me too much, and, well, I just can't watch... lol... The welcome of cooler weather is such a good thought, but for us down here we are still in the low 80's... darn... and still mowing grass...double darn...

  19. I was going to say please enter my name as 2nd Man would love those books for his collection but I found an online CA to US parcel calculator. Yikes, LOL!

The artwork is amazing. Such a talent, one I wish I had. If could have any talent it would be a tie between art and singing. Maybe both, the singing artist? Ha!!!

You know what I liked about the two skeletons? They are at their base, in love, with no visible, gender, race, religion, etc. Love is what is on the inside. :-)

  20. your drawings always reminds me of the cartoons I used to watch. I don't remember seeing hyde-tweety-bird. poor sylvester. you've captured them just right.

I'm not really a fan of halloween so I'm not sure I like those drawings but it is fitting for this month.

    have a lovely day.

  21. You just keep getting better and better with your drawings! Your creepy ones are truly creepy too! The cookbooks look good but I need another cookbook like I need a hole in the head. Lucky you with the cool/cold temps. It is st in the high 80's low 90's here....ick! I started watching some classic horror movies to get in the spirit of Halloween. Last night it was The Invisible Man. Jack sure looks comfortable! Have a great week!

  26. Thanks Michael :) That's funny about the good ol boys of Kentucky lol...actually the Foghorn Leghorn character was allegedly based on a character from an old radio show, The Fred Allen Show, one of his actors played a Southern Senator named Senator Claghorn. If you listen to some of his stuff on YouTube, you'll hear the resemblance! Oh yes, I already have my ideas for "Bottle"!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thanks Sam :) I love the creepy art a lot. Oh I know you're downsizing and decluttering! For me though, I could fill a whole room with cookbooks and never think twice about it! :) The Invisible Man! We saw that last year, it's a good one! Have a great week you too! :)

  43. LOL Mary, thank you! :) Yes...I've asked myself the same thing...WHEN will I start my winter Cams??? :) I have to start soon though because those bloomy white Camemberts need a good few months in the cheese cave before we can eat them and we'd like to have one on New Year's! :)

  44. Oct.7th...copy of reply I just posted, on my blog.... in answer to your question, asked there...

RAIN- No, having chicken pox does not protect you, from shingles.

"Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus — the same virus that causes chickenpox. Anyone who's had chickenpox may develop shingles. After you recover from chickenpox, the virus can enter your nervous system and lie dormant for years."
