Welcome to Thursday's Art Date, today our theme is Love ❤️.
Here is Bugs Bunny posing for my drawing of "The Birth of Venus" (by Sandro Botticelli). The Roman Goddess Venus is a symbol of love and beauty.
There is a lot of love in the air! Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, do you celebrate? We'll be having a romantic fondue dinner! Interesting too, tomorrow is Friday. In French, Friday is Vendredi. The word Vendredi is derived from the Latin: Veneris Dies, which translates into The Day of Venus.
I decided to do something different for the Love theme with my charcoals. I wanted to challenge myself because I'm really not comfortable with drawing figures, especially hands. But I'm super happy how this turned out, despite the sadness of it!

I've been adding some more recipes to my new Recipe Page (click on the links for the recipes!):
I'm loving that daylight is coming earlier and earlier! Walking the dogs yesterday morning at 6:30am, I saw the sun rising on one side of the road...
...and the moon setting on the other side of the road. How fabulous! 😊
That's all for now folks! Please check out the link widget below to see more Love artwork!

My Rhino is done! I'm very happy with it! The Rhinoceros symbolizes wisdom and offers you this advice: “Only when you are truly comfortable in your own skin can you begin to access the ancient wisdom within you”

Bugs De Milo gave me a good chuckle you are so creative! The lost love charcoal is sad, great job on doing the hands. Your food looks delicious as always.
ReplyDeleteHello Rain
ReplyDeleteBunny as venus, how delightful he looks and the explanation is interesting. Your food is wonderful as it smells and you got the drawing with your hands great. The man is beautiful at all and your rhino, I love your drawings, they weren't easy.
The weather is lovely to walk around in the early morning.
I like it too!
Enjoy it and I wish you a nice week!
Greetings Elke
Lost Love is BRILLIANT, as is your rhino.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day. And many more of them.
Your Bugs Bunny Venus is such fun, well done! Love the sad lover, too, very atmospheric. And your food is really something to love, I would gladly take a portion of each right now! The rhino is absolutely magnificent. Glad your days are getting longer, here, too, and I love it! Have a happy day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeletei hope you have that rhino hanging somewhere that you can see it all the time. it is splendid! almost happy valentine's day! all of the food looks terrific but those greek potatoes...yum! the sunrise and the moon are awesome!
ReplyDeleteLove it all... morning walk is stunning... Rhinoceros is perfect...food looks heartwarming...Happy heart day for you and Alex!
ReplyDeleteAll of your food looks absolutely amazing. I wish my husband could eat more of that, but we've had to cut out bread and pasta more often. And white potatoes sadly. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day! Your art is marvelous as usual and those Greek potatoes want to leap off the screen right into my mouth!
ReplyDeleteI just love your artwork, Rain! That rhino just blows my mind.
ReplyDeleteI should try that Greek Veggie Pita Pockets recipe. It looks delicious. And it's something I would enjoy since I rarely eat meat.
Rain,
ReplyDeleteYour 'Venus Bugsy' is great! I love how you incorporate the Loony Tunes into your weekly art prompts. :) That charcoal sketch is wonderful! You are so talented. Your foodie pix look scrumptious, especially the Greek Potatoes which I will check out. The snowy winterscape of Canada is beautiful and cold. I love the sun's glow just beyond the forest line! It's breath-taking figuratively but I'm sure it is literally with your temps. :) The Rhino turned out great excellent shading and details. You're quite amazing, girl! Thanks for hosting and have a doodletastic day.
Lost love is sad but what a wonderful delight in seeing all the shading and depth in the drawing. The hands are quite well done too. Your Rhino is fabulous. I can almost feel the roughness of his skin. But Bugs as Venus de Milo.............ingenious!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day to you and Alex.
Love lost, yes the other side of the coin. It's a basic emotion most sentient beings relate to. I saw a herd of elephants mourning the loss of one of the herd... I've had my share of love lost too.
ReplyDeleteLost Love is an interesting take on the theme. And very well done, Rain. And your Rhino is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThe charcoal drawing is great, nice work!!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it nice to see the sun coming up earlier...I have been catching a lot of amazing sunrises.
My kiddo and I are going on a movie date tomorrow night.
This is a good post that shows your artistic range. Love the connection between Bugs Bunny and Venus.
ReplyDeleteYour art is amazing, as well as your food art!
ReplyDeleteI have missed visiting my friends' blogs. Thanks for your previous comments checking in with me, Rain...it meant a lot. xo
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Your skills are coming along leaps and bounds! I LOVE your Lost Love and Rhino pieces and Bugs is so cute in his Birth of Venus role. hehe
We've been having a rough time of it in Australia with the mega-bushfires and then, torrential rain causing flooding. It's been crazy to say the least but I finally feel like I'm getting back on an even keel.
Hope to be participating more online very soon.
Enjoy the rest of your week. :)
Bugs is so cute.
ReplyDeleteI love your rhino.
Delightful to see bugs as Venus, he wears the hair exceptionally well hee hee! Gorgeous foods, reminding me i've not eaten breakfast yet oops.. Freya has been very very needy today, teething is such a horrible thing even for our wee doggies. I'm in awe of your Rhino, deep in thought a true masterpiece Rain.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful day full of love with those special around us. After 30 plus years its not something we celebrate as each day is as lovely as the last.. sending creative hugs your way Tracey xx
Happy Saint Valentines Day Rain
ReplyDeleteHappy you dropped by my blog today

Beautiful art Rain. I also like those recipes. Happy PPF :D) xx
ReplyDeleteyour Rhino is really gorgeous. Looks almost real. :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, that rhino is magnificent- bravo!! Your charcoal drawing is so impressive as well.
ReplyDeleteLove Bugs Bunny as Venus:):)
Your food is all so yummy looking-thanks for the recipes!
Sunrise and sunset are truly beautiful, magical moments especially. I admire you for braving that cold to capture it.
Happy PPF, and happy Valentine's Day too!
Wow, these are stunning. Your rhino is just amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove the rhino.
ReplyDeleteVenus, What big ears you have my dear :) Poor bugs, he gets pulled into all sorts of gigs, but he is so good at it! Your lost love pulls on the heart strings and you did a wonderful job on him, even his hands ... but my favorite is, of course, the finished Rhinoceros ... he is just glorious. A keeper for sure and destined for a place on one of you walls, I hope. We do celebrate Valentines, but it is hard because my daughter is still very sick and now my granddaughter is running a fever ... And, her Mom and Dad are in Hawaii celebrating their anniversary. But we exchanged cards and hugs and expressed our love for each other. Hope your romantic dinner was wonderful and your love for each other spans another year of happiness. Happy Valentines day to you a few days late :)
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From the Sol
Wonderful art and food and sunrises!
ReplyDeleteI made valentines pizza. Not for me but the rest of the gang. Will try to post an update tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteLove all the pics of your food.....YUMMY. I love Greek food and those potatoes look amazing. Your art is great also....haha, was you surprised to see that I played along this time! Just so happened that I had that article from the magazine that I had not shared in my blog. Thought that would be perfect. Mother Nature is still messing with us in TN. Tomorrow 52, low 60s this Wed and 42 Thursday with flurries. OVER IT ALL.
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented in your art and in the kitchen. Your Charcoal piece is stunning.
ReplyDeleteLove your art.
ReplyDeleteYour food looks delicious.
Beautiful photographs of the sun rising.
Hope you had a wonderful Valentines Day and a lovely weekend too.
Enjoy the new week.
All the best Jan
Hot dog girlfriend; you slayed it on this rhino and your charcoal made me think of, "Play it again, Sam," cue Humphrey Bogart.
ReplyDeleteBelated Hearts ❤️ Day to you and Alex, the kitties and canines too, Rain. The Lost Love art piece was really great as was the rhino, although the first was my favorite, aside from BB of course. Thanks so much for introducing me to Gina’s cooking on YouTube. She reminds me of how my mother used to cook basic meals with veggies from the garden, sadly, I don’t remember my Italian grandmothers who passed away when I was very young, but I can imagine their cooking would have been somewhat like Gina’s.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you are talented! Loving bugs! Loving that guy! AMAZING! The rhino is STUNNING! Very wise words too! Gorgeous pictures! Thanks for the yummy recipes!! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYour figure drawing is really good. That is an area a lot of times i just back away from - sometimes it works for me and other times it's a big mess. Always love bugs bunny illustrations you do. i still have the flu - waiting to feel like myself again.
ReplyDeleteSo much talent. Love the artwork.
ReplyDeleteSuperb admin liked the painting
ReplyDeleteThanks
