Thursday Art Date: Wisdom of the Ages and Paint Party Friday!

"The Stinker"

Hello Friends! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Welcome to Thursday's Art Date, today our theme is Wisdom of the Ages. Here is Bugs Bunny posing for my drawing of  Rodin's "The Thinker".

This sculpture has been around for well over 100 years so he must be pretty wise by now with all of that thinking he's been doing!!

According to the Smithsonian, sharks have been on this earth for over 400 million years. Talk about Wisdom of the Ages!! They have continued to exist in our oceans for eons despite how the world has evolved around them...instinctual wisdom! ๐Ÿ˜Š I created this fella in one of my mixed media courses with a watercolour under-painting on blue toned paper, then charcoals and pastels for shading and details. I've never mixed all these things up before but it was fun seeing it come together!

๐Ÿ’‹ Thank you so much Friends for all of your lovely comments lately! I'm in the thick of the house hunting process...something may be on the horizon very very soon! I should have some news for you all next Thursday but it's looking like we may have found our home!! Wish me lots of luck!!! Thanks for popping in! Please check out the link widget below to see more Wisdom of the Ages artwork!

I'm also linking up with Paint Party Friday tomorrow!

  1. Fingers and toes crossed you HAVE found the perfect home.
And, as always I am blown away by your art. If Rodin had known about Bugs then his model would have been changed immediately - and I love your multi-media shark.

  2. The Bunny is thoughtful like the statue what wisdom comes out *laughs*
You painted the shark so well that I thought it was real. * wow * interesting to read about the shark
That would be great if it works with the house
    Wish you lots of luck!!!!

  3. Fun theme Rain and I love your shark, what a magnificent piece. Bugs Bunny as Rodin's thinker is also a fab idea. Good luck with your house hunting! Hugs, Valerie

  4. Rain,

I'm so excited for you. I hope you all DID find your dream home!

Great job on 'Bugs the thinker'! Bugs sure has a lot on his mind. He's probably trying to figure out the best way to out trick Taz or Elmer Fudd. :D

Ever since I saw JAWS I really hate the thoughts of going into the ocean. I get wigged out just being in a lake which is supposedly safe but I think I'll stay out of the water unless it's in my bathtub or swimming pool because people put dangerous critters (pythons, gaters,....)in fresh water. They adapt!

Thanks for hosting the artsy fun, my friend. Have a good day!

  7. 400 million years! It is almost unimaginable. How long do sharks live? There is a type of whale near Greenland that they believe lives 400 years. That would mean one could have been born in 1620 and is still out there!

I hope you find a really cool house. Have you ever seen a yurt? There is a Youtube video of a couple living in one. Looks incredible. Um...but their's probably cost more than a house. ๐Ÿ˜€

By the way...Clearly, Bugs is a much better subject for that sculpture than that muscle-y man! He is MUCH cooler!

  11. Golly, I thought the shark was a photograph. You did fantastic on it. Oh, I so hope this time you get your forever home. You guys have really been trying so hard and have been quite patient.

  12. sincerely hope you have found your forever home and will have good news next week for us followers. We have given up house hunting for a while, it became too intense and I realised it was making us unhappy, our current home of 26 years is far from perfect, but I love it and I don't think it is going to let us go for now :)

  14. Ha! I had a statue of "The Thinker" in my apartment when I was in college. That should tell you how long he has been around :) Bugs is a thinker all right, but I think his thinking is more planning for some form of orneriness :) He does look impressive though, I have to admit. Now, what is really impressive is your shark. I thought it was a photograph until I started reading your comments about him. You are truly far more amazing than I think you are willing to admit.
So house hunting is a lot of fun, especially if you find what you want ... but moving is a pain. It took us over a year to get rid of all of the junk we had accumulated over the years ... and then to sell some things that I never thought I would let go, but downsizing was a big part of our last move and it was important to not leave a house full of "stuff" for the kids to have to deal with when the time comes. Good Luck, I hope you get "the House" and all works in your favor. I will be waiting to hear next week :)
